Our visit to the Chowder House was quite a drive for us. It's in a strip mall, and when we arrived, we thought the restaurant was empty, because it's impossible to see through the windows. However, when we entered, we saw that the place was practically full. It was evident that the waitresses knew many of their customers, and when I asked about that, our waitress said that many of the people come every day for lunch.
My husband and I each had the fish & chips that comes with fries, coleslaw and iced tea for $7.99. Actually, each lunch was a dollar less, since we had a coupon from a local paper. My husband also ordered a cup of clam chowder, which he said was wonderful. The fish was some of the best I've had in years. The fries were regular fries and the coleslaw a little too sweet for my taste but still delicious.
We found the prices for lunch to be reasonable. There are ten lunch specials on the menu (liver, meatloaf, ham steak, grilled chicken, pork chop, etc.) that come with a choice of a side along with soup or salad for $6.99. There's an all-you-can-eat chowder and salad special on the menu for $7.99 that my husband said he's going to try next time.
