“Review of Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

Stayed Friday and Saturday nights Aug 9th & 10th.. Room 204 was in excellent condition. A couple of minor spots on the rug that should be cleaned. The bed was comfortable but I would like the standard pillow rather than 4 half pillows.. The continental breakfast was good the coffee even better.. Hotel staff was excellent.. You can not get your room before 3pm.. If you arrive early, it will cost you an additional $25 to get in, even if the room is ready.. Check out is 11:00am.. The staff was outstanding.. Very personable.. About 15 minutes to downtown Fernandina historic district.. 15 minutes into Jaxsonville.. Be sure to see Fort Clinch.. and the state park while you are there.. I think Best Western as a whole ought to change their policy on check in before 3pm if rooms are available.. Bradlem1

Dear Bradlem1,

Sounds like you had enjoyed your recent stay here with us while visiting surrounding area, only a short drive away. The few items that you had mentioned we will take into consideration, but with the chain of Best Western somethings are difficult to change at our specific hotel. We hope that along with the buffet breakfast you were able to enjoy the nightly cookies and the pool and hot tub. We all hope that next time you are in the area you stop on in for a relaxing night with our outstanding staff. See you soon.

We stayed on Friday night before our big adventure flying ultralight planes in Fernandina Beach on Saturday. The room was very nice and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Good continental breakfast (but the eggs were not good) - loved the Kahlua sugar-free syrup for in the coffee (have never seen this offered at another hotel). Grounds were very attractive - loved the front porch!

My family and I stayed here because we had an early flight the next day. Very clean, spacious rooms, executive suite is great for families with children--separate bedroom with door and sofa bed in living room for kids. It is about 15 minutes drive to JAX airport. Restaurants nearby and free continental breakfast. Service was great. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for almost 3 months while working a job on Amelia Island. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and lots of pillows. Breakfast was good with the exception of the eggs but get there early it goes fast and they do run out before 9 if the hotel is full and not a lot of seating room. Fresh cookies every night plus nachos and cheese. Always have lemonaid and coffee ready to drink.
Very close to Amelia island without the beachfront price. But if staying on a weekend call ahead and make reservation, they fill up fast.
Plus watch the speed on road to amelia island, It changes very quickly and cops love to radar the 35 mph zone.

Dear Ples R,
Sounds like even though you were here on business you had a great time. You game people great information about things around the area as well as Yulee as well. We are greatful that we are able to offer the cookies and nachos every evening and the free buffet breakfast every morning. Next time you are in the Yulee area we hope its more pleasure and you are able to relax and visit the close Amelia island. Hope to see you again soon.

Agree with other reviewers: It wasn't easy to find but the location (behind the Burger King) was well insulated from interstate road noise. Our room was clean and well appointed. Staff were friendly. Breakfast, however, was pretty ordinary.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We arrived around 8:00 PM after driving forever trying to find the place -- it is not right on the street, but behind a building -- the Burger King. We found this out after practically driving to Amelia Island. There were no cookies left, they're only available until 7:00. Okay. Our room had some stains on the floor and some places seemed gummy. I saw a dead fly on the floor. Small squares on the bed pretending to be pillows. The shower was gleaming, but it seems there was a water saver on the shower, making the shower not too invigorating. There were lots of TV stations. The breakfast was a big dissapointment. We went down at about 8:35 and for the "hot breakfast" there were cold egg things that resembled squares, and cold potatoes. No sausage left. No orange juice. If breakfast service is until 9:00, why wouldn't it be kept up until that time? This place seemed expensive for what you get, and it's not like you're in Amelia Island. You're in Yulee.

Green Features: I guess this BW is saving the environment, but I could do without a water saver on the shower. You just have to run it longer.

Dear Needmorevation,
I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay here with us. Each and every room is inspected by our wonderful housekeeping staff to make sure its up to the best quality before renting. Yes we do have cookies out every evening but we can not control how fast they will go sometimes they will last all night and sometimes just 10 minutes. There is also many different items for the breakfast and nightly social hour starting at 6.30pm. We all hope that this experience does not ruin all best western hotels for you and your family.

I like the Best Western Plus brand. The property was clean and looked nice. The location is good for a stop when you're on I-95. I think some guests were staying there while visiting Amelia Island nearby. The eggs on the buffet were dissappointing, and the rest of the items were standard. There is free lemonade always in the lobby and fresh-baked cookies every evening.

I'm pleased to hear that you enjoyed not only our hotel but the Best Western brand. We all take great pride in how well all of our staff members treat our guests, friendly and comforting. We are grateful you took advantage of a few of the items we are able to offer to our guests. Next time you are in town visiting the islands or maybe just passing through we hope to see your smiling face again and maybe enjoy some cookie by the relaxing pool. Hope to see you again soon.
