This is a so-far-unique form of Barnie's, actually called a "Coffee Kitchen." The menu is creative, what I'd call "California modern," with fresh twists on traditional food, healthy choices, delicious combinations. My favorite is the Tuna Nicoise Tartine (an upscale version of an open-face sandwich). Excellent toasted multi-grain bread is topped with bits and thin slices of Greek olives, green beans, potatoes, radishes, EVOO, and field greens, a few egg slices for garnish, and "Wild Planet tuna" on top; a bit of tomato in a cup on the side. It looked so big I thought I couldn't eat it all, but then I couldn't stop. A tiny sidewalk table was a perfect spot for art festival crowd-watching. The negatives: The food here is not cheap (this was $11). The service was friendly but inattentive/slow.
