“Excellent Service ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2014

I set up a business dinner for 11 men and everyone was very pleased with the choice. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. The smoked wahoo fish dip was a good appetizer. Lots of dip and the flat crackers were perfect.
I had the salmon. Delicious choice. I was also told the steak tips were very good.

The ambiance was modern with cool music on the background. The bar has a cool waterfall mirror. Contemporary decor.

All in all, it's a great place to eat and spend time with business associates and/or friends. Would highly recommend it.

“Food was excellent. Waitress MIA”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

The food here was excellent. But our waitress while all smiles and pleasant was MIA most of the time. It took her 15 minutes just to come to greet me at the table. And most of her visits were the same. The food here was the saving grace and we probably would have ordered dessert and coffee but she wasn't reliable and we had enough waiting between visits/drinks/courses. I had the scallop special which were the most interesting and best I've eaten anywhere and my brother had a steak; also excellent. It has sidewalk seating so we retrieved my dog out of the car and she joined us on the sidewalk. It was a Thursday night around eight so there were some empty tables, there was no excuse for slow service. Go enjoy.

“Food better than atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

This is billed as a seafood restaurant. It's not a pure seafood restaurant. It's seafood, salads and burgers. It has a large college following based on its location to Rollins College. It's noisy.

The food is really very good. Fresh. We had a chicken dish, fish and salads. All very good. Presentations were also good.

Because it has no real atmosphere or decor I expected it to be bad but it was not. Service was very good and we are on a Saturday night. The table was ready on time. Staff is very friendly. The quality surprised me. The prices are very reasonable. It's really a very good restaurant. I'm just not into noise.

If you want a casual place with good food reasonably priced, I recommend it.

“Relaxed, But Sophisticated Atmosphere and Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2014

There are several very good restaurants on Park Avenue. We picked Blu on the Avenue for a lunch meal mostly by chance - just wanting to give it a try. It turned out to be a great experience. Our waiter did an excellent job of explaining specials, making recommendations, and managing the service. Very polite and friendly. We shared the blu Lobster Roll (grilled cheese) sandwich - very good with plenty of lobster meat included in the sandwich. Steak fries were well cooked and very nicely salted. We also ordered a half size house blend of greens (salad) with an exceptional sherry vinaigrette dressing. All the other food we observed being served to other tables looked inviting. I would suggest that the entire menu has a wide range of good choices. We sat inside (there is outside seating on the sidewalk) and it is a little noisy, but they were reasonably busy with what appeared to be a fairly upscale business lunch crowd. Parking is always difficult on Park Avenue. Suggest you use the public parking garage or look for public parking off of some of the cross streets. You still won't walk more than a few blocks. Pretty sure that evening reservations might be a good idea (this can be done on their website). This is a good restaurant, well staffed, that holds its own with the other very good restaurants in downtown Winter Park.

“Good Food and a Good Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

A group of us frequent travelers took the train down the coast a piece to hang out at Winter Park so as to check out the sites, few as they are, and the restaurants, which are pretty darn good in this upscale little town. So one night we dropped in on Blu, tried and failed to sit outside (too crowded and too close to the curb), and subsequently rearranged some tables in the back where we all could be together. It worked out well and the staff was very helpful to accommodate our request while not turning the place upside down. Service following on was fine - quick, accurate and friendly. The food was very good and an excellent value for the money. We thought it would be more expensive than it was, actually. A couple of us started with fresh raw oysters and I consumed all of mine so fast that I forgot to take a photo [photo]. A super value, given current oyster pricing at some restaurants, which is ridiculous. Since we're close to the Deep Blue Sea, the smart ones in our group had seafood, and appropriately enough, speaking of groups, I had the pan roasted black grouper served lying on a potato pancake [photo]. Another smart person had the lobster risotto, which she declared to be the best she ever had had. So, a decent atmosphere, good service and very enjoyable food = a very good value indeed. Check it out. La prochaine fois que je vais commander le Plateau de Fruites de Mer. Next time.
