“Weird Seating / Good Food”

The wife and I finally checked this place out, based on two things- many positive reviews online, and our general disappointment with Italian food here in Orlando. IMO, this place lived up to it's good reviews. Just one minor mishap, some of the seating there is very strange, very high uncomfortable chairs. They went for form over function. They look nice and trendy, but sacrifice comfort in the process. In any case, we asked the hostess if we could move to "ground floor" seating and she happily obliged. (Or else I would have subtracted a star from this review)
but that was the only thing not to our liking. The service level was insane, very good waiter, checked on us to the point of being annoying, but that is good IMO. Staff whisked away used plates right after your last bite, refilled water and wine while still half full. Waiter was friendly and attentive, the service was like a five star restaurant. (I don't give five star reviews unless the place is totally insane in absolutely every respect).
Food was great, full flavored, a bit salty, which is good for me, as I like salty foods, but I know some need to watch their salt/sodium intake. We had the salmon crupa(ceviche like preparation), eggplant soup, escarole caesar salad, gnocchi, meatballs, and veal scallopini. All were very good. The wine list is all Italian regional wines, but contains many reasonably priced choices, we went for a bottle of "Primativa" for $28 dollars. It was a great wine and a sick deal, half the price of most places for a good bottle of wine.
So yeah, aside from some of the funky seating, I would highly recommend this place.

“very tasty Italian food in Winter Park”

Well located on Park Avenue in Winter Park. The food and drink options have been developed by the expert team running Luma just a few blocks away. Funky & big / open location. Walk to the bathroom and actually pass the kitchen where you can briefly interact with the highly competent staff overseeing the cooking and serving.

We ate the following:
bottle of Col De Salici - very tasty sparking wine, nice balance of dry with a some fruit

Seasoned olives appetizer - YUM - have to figure out the recipe

Campanelle pasta - plate licking food!! Homemade chorizo, octopus and an amazingly good sauce

Widow Maker pizza (I survived but to the dismay of my wife...) - Yummy is not enough to describe how good this fresh made pizza tasted.

The dessert looked tempting but we were full... :-)

“Meatballs and Martinis!”

Don't miss either one. Whether you are going for dinner, happy hour, or just a cocktail, the food, drinks and service are as good or better than the atmosphere.

You don't have to be hungry to try their meatball appetizer, its amazing!

Say hi to Stephanie, my favorite bartender there!

“Unique dining experience”

Strolled down Park Avenue looking for a light dinner and happened upon Prato. Dinner service doesn't start until 5:30 but their wood fired pizza selections (7) were available. The Salsiccia with Toscano was perfect. Since the menu changes daily your selection options may be different. Wine and beer selections were plentiful. Our waitress Jessica, a UCF student, was totally familiar with the selections on the menu and explained each one we inquired about in detail. We also sampled the Formaggio & Carne Salata. Excellent cheeses and sausages not to mention the olives!

“Always delighted”

I live in Winter Park. Am at Prato weekly. Maybe twice weekly for lunch and dinner.

I just entered my reviews for a recent trip, realized I don't think to review my local spots. Prato deserves more than a glowing review. What more can I do to tell you that this is the place to go?

The executive chef is creative, extremely creative. But he also has that innate knowledge of what will be pleasing as well as adventurous. It's a delicate balance to strike, and he does it. Changes the menu often, weekly perhaps every two weeks. Keeping some offerings always.

SO recently I've had the Campagne Salad (curly endive, other lettuces, nuts, cheeses, fruit), hangar steak w bulgur pilaf and wild mushrooms and ramps, peanut butter and chocolate dessert done 4 ways, antipasto plate. Their salads are amazingly creative. The roasted butternut and walnut salad is excellent. Always have some sort of a steak offering. Desserts are creative, many deconstructed. Such as Apple Crisp done as the cinnamony apples as a compote, vanilla creme anglaise, oatmeal crunch sprinkled generously, scoop of raisin ice cream. Their homemade pasta offerings are great. Just had mustard pasta with pancetta and caramelized onion light cream sauce. Imagine that combination. Oh man.

Waitstaff is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. Tim the manager is always there, always watching for any hiccups. He keeps it all running smoothly.

Tables outside or near the front are quieter. Inside can be noisy for me (I'm older. My adult kids like the inside energy.) They have good heaters outside for the winter months. And efficient valet parking right at the front door.

Best dinner place in Central Florida. Worth the drive from Disney. Worth the drive from anywhere. After dinner, walk up and down Park Avenue, the street all developers dream to have.
