“Average State Park - felt time could best be spent elsewhere.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Did not find this State Park very insightful - a Park dedicated to the guy that wrote "Old Folks at Home" - the Suwannee River song? Huh? Just goes to show that any of us have a shot at the BIG TIMES in our lives! Did find the old swimming pool (wading pool) outside of the Park pretty neat to search around though. I'd personally pass this attraction up and spend my time somewhere else.

“Christmas light exhibit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012

Beautiful light display and many things to do, even on a Sunday night! The lights in all of the trees were beautiful. There was a live orchestra, s'mores and singing by the campfire, a terrific train display and even Santa! The "snow flurries" we're the only disappointing thing- bubble foam. Ypu can get hot cocoa, popcorn and s'mores for a small donation, the food vendors were pricey but the fried oreos were definitely worth it! We had a terrific time, the fee is only $2 per person and we spent about 3 hours in the park. We arrived about 5 pm and it was perfect, not crowded at all. As we left around 730pm it was very crowded and the line was very long to enter the park.
We will definitely do this again. We had a 2 yr old, 5 yr old, 13 yr old, parents and grandparents and we all really enjoyed it.

“Great stop along I 75”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Stopped to get out of the car on th trip south. Great move. A compact little park dedicated to a yankee who will forever symbolize the old south. A museum with dioramas depicting scenes form the song. Little known facts (he lived in Pittsburg and was only south once). A bell tower that plays his songs throughout the day and cabins demonstrating crafts. A very reasonably price gift shop rounds out the park. Great place to kill an hour or two on your way to the plastic attractions of Orlando. The kids (and you) may even learn a thing or two.

“great place for many activities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

There are many special weekend activities and classes that are offered regularly. The Florida Folk Festival is a wonderful place for music and the Festival of Lights is spectacular.
