The grounds are lovely, the pool is nice, and there is a hot tub, which we very much enjoyed in the unexpected cold weather (for South Florida) we had on a couple of days. The rooms are okay- type Bs are tiny, cramped, one bedroom accommodation with a "kitchenette" (read: hotplate). Type As are lovely, with a full kitchen, living, dining room and a jetted tub in the bedroom. A note of caution regarding accommodation type: the minimum number of guests for type B rooms is 4 people. I would not recommend this at all. A couple would be comfortable if they are slim, or three people at most given how cramped the space is. For four people, a type A would be more adequate.
The main negative is the service, which left a lot to be desired, and getting assistance for anything at front desk was subject to long waits. It often seemed as if the staff was overwhelmed by the number of people they had to assist. We had a particularly negative experience at check-in, being given a lower category room than we had reserved (2 Bs on opposite sides of the floor rather than contiguous A and B making up a "two bedroom suite"), but without any explanation or apology. Only after seeing that the rooms were both Bs and the numbers not consecutive did we ask about it. We were told that they had no A rooms available for that night and that we would have to switch rooms the next day. This was handled very poorly by the staff; they should have at least pointed out that they were unable to fulfill the reservation for the first night, apologised, and explained that they would be able to fix things the next day. Instead, it seems like they tried to slip one past us. We chalked it up to stress and the late hour and chose to believe they hadn't noticed the problem. However, at check out they then charged us for the stay as originally reserved, rather than charging us for an A and a B room on the first night.
After this check in experience, they sent me over to the guy who provides the parking permits, which they say are very important, as unauthorised vehicles are routinely towed. This person seemed more focused on scheduling us for a free lunch or breakfast than providing the parking tickets. We were a party of four and I was alone handling the check-in while the others got a bite to eat, so I was hesitant to commit the whole party to a time without knowing their plans/preference. As I explained this, the person appeared upset and was pretty much holding the parking permit hostage to the scheduling. This was bizarre to say the least. Finally I got the parking permit from him, but he was very huffy and seemed to be brimming with barely controlled temper. Extremely unprofessional and odd. I now suspect this is how they rope guests into the time share pitch. On subsequent days they would leave bright coloured pieces of paper on our door urging us to "COLLECT YOUR FREE GIFT! LAST CHANCE!". Every day was the "LAST CHANCE!" to "COLLECT YOUR FREE GIFT!". There were also some phone calls to remind us of the FREE GIFT and our complimentary meal. Make of that what you will. We took it for more time share sale attempts and steered clear.
Overall I would recommend this place only for those who are (a) getting a very low rate (b) not fussy about service and/or not going in the high season (d) ensuring they receive a room on the refurbished side (e) aware of the annoying time share pitch.
Beware not all sections of the Vacation Village have been as recently refurbished. Ask for something...
