This resort is by no means a gold crown resort. I booked this resort on the premise that it was a gold crown resort, and am very upset as it is falsely advertised as being one. There are very few services offered at this hotel - and the ones that are are offered come with fees.
THIS RESORT IS DESPERATE TO KEEP THEIR "GOLD CROWN" RATING - THEY EVEN LEAVE A LETTER FOR YOU FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER IN YOUR ROOM, BEGGING YOU TO GIVE THEM THE HIGHEST RATINGS IN YOUR REVIEW OF THE RESORT - WHEN IT IS NOT BY ANY MEANS DESERVED!!
It is in the middle of a residental suburb. You have to drive to everything, and it's not a short drive either. There is not even a grocery store nearby.
I STRONGLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT TO ANYONE. IT DOES NOT DESERVE A GOLD CROWN RATING.
BELOW-STANDARD ACCOMODATIONS -dated and worn furniture, 20 YEAR OLD TUBE TV's; Was given the "B" unit - dingy, with cracked tiling throughout the bathroom and kitchen. Offered an ancient 2 plate hot burner, no dishwasher, and dirty utensils in the drawer.
THEY CHARGE FEES FOR EVERYTHING! INTERNET FEES ARE $9.99/DAY - THE ALTERNATIVE IS TO LINE UP TO USE "THEIR" 3 COMPUTERS IN A CLOSET IN THE MAIN BUILDING. WARNING - THERE IS ALWAYS A LONG LINE UP OF PEOPLE WAITING TO USE THE COMPUTERS.
They even charge fees for the one ping pong table - you must pay for the balls! What a joke!
Fees to use the laudry machines - and there are only 2 machines per floor. Most gold crowns have machines in your room - or will have 1 per every A and B units.
NO SECURITY LOCK ON THE BUILDING ENTRANCE - anyone could walk into the "apartment-style" buidling anytime, without a key card - just open the door and "come on in"....I advised the management of this issue several times, and it was never fixed. This concerned me greatly, as I was staying alone with my son, and on in addition to this - the lock on our patio door was broken - and we were on the 2nd floor! On top of this - THE RESORT CHARGES A $10 FEE TO USE THE IN-ROOM SAFE - EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE NO ENTRANCE SECURITY ON THE BUILDING. They did offer to waive the fee on the room safe, but this deactivated after 1 day of use!!!
Resort kindly provides BBQs but YOU MUST PROVIDE YOUR OWN CHARCOAL AND LIGHTER FLUID!! Ridiculous!
Resort kindly offers a pool but it is a "play" pool - no room to swim amongst the water basketball and volleyball players. There is very little room to swim, as the volleyball net goes right across the middle of the pool and there is always a ton of people playing.
Activities are lame complared to other resorts. There is one snack shop and gift shop - with limited selection. Most gold crown resorts offer nice restaurants on-site and pool-side service. One night they had a DJ blaring techno-pop music - not appropriate for a family environment.
Want to exchange your towels - well you better be prepared to plead your case in the back closet housekeeping room - they will make you show your dirty towels before they exchange them - and you only have a 2 hour time frame to do so - you must go to a tiny, dingy housekeeping room where they don't greet you kindly and practically make you beg for more supplies like toilet paper and kleenex.
Customer service is lacking - went into the main building to express my concerns about the resort, and the manager in-charge just looked at me - I could tell she was biting her tongue, trying not to tear a stripe off me. Instead, she said she would have the general manager call me to deal with my concerns. Juan called me back - 2 days later - after I had already purchased Internet service because I couldn't wait any longer. He did everything he could NOT to upgrade our room - or offer other solutions. The TVs were so old that they did not have any input/output ports - and my son had wanted to hook up his game system. Instead of upgrading our room to one with an LCD TV, or changing our TV, like he had mentioned, he sent us an adaptor for this ancient TV!! We couldn't believe it!
Rude clerks at the front desk - Had to change rooms because the clerk checked us into a room that backed onto the interstate, when she said it looked out over the pool - no apology - when I went back down to the check-in counter. The clerk, who checked us out on our last day, and didn't even thank us - just said, "you're all done"....and that was all - no smile, no "thank you for choosing this resort", no pleasantries, no inquiry as to how we enjoyed our stay...nothing.....In fact, the poolside employees were also rude, especially when it came to getting a towel....it was almost as though you had to plead your case again to get a towel!
NOT A CLASSY RESORT - NOT WORTHY OR ANY "CROWN", NEVER MIND A GOLD ONE!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. Your candid comments of our performance and our property are appreciated. Only approximately 10% of RCI’s participating resorts have been awarded a Gold Crown status. This award recognizes quality and is given based on positive comment cards received by members who have visited the resort on exchange. Vacation Village at Weston Resort is proud to be a recipient of this award and we have continued to maintain this status. We do ask that guests give us a 5-star rating or allow us the opportunity to correct any issues they may have during their stay. We appreciate it when guests inform us of their experience because it helps us know which areas we need improvement. This is why everyone is given the survey you mentioned. The resort lies within the famous South Florida Spa, Tennis and Golf community of Weston and offers complimentary shuttle service to areas within a 3-mile radius. This area includes multiple dining, entertainment, and shopping areas, including Publix, a large grocery store. The resort offers two types of suites. B Suites have spacious living and dining room areas with partial kitchens. The A suites feature the same amenities as the B suites as well as an in-room Jacuzzi tub and a full kitchen. These room amenities are noted on our website so that guests can reserve the appropriate accommodations for their needs. This property features two pools, one our signature waterfall pool that is the biggest in Broward County. We also provide many of the amenities found at upscale resorts like a fitness center, deli, gift shop, poolside smoothie bar, full service spa, and complimentary computer room with multiple computers available for guests. We apologize that we could not provide you with the exemplary customer service that we are known for and we regret that you now have such a negative impression of us. We are sorry that our resort and our service did not meet your expectations and we hope your next Florida vacation is more enjoyable.
