“Most expensive WiFi Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

When checking in, I was asked to pay $9.99 per day, $25.99 for 3 days or $49.99 for a week to have Wifi in the unit. This is an RCI exchange and in any other resort I ever stayed Wifi was free. Isn't this what we pay annual maintenance fees for? $49.99 is more than a monthly Comcast subscription. There is no relationship between this charge and the wholesale cost of providing this service. Pure profit greed. The idea of time share is to exchange the home unit for another, obtaining all the services that are customary. When do we have to pay to watch TV or to use the coffee maker?

Otherwise check in was long -- two trainees on their second day -- and the usual time share breakfast or lunch hard sell before obtaining a parking pass. Unit looks fine, some updated furniture and contradictory to what others reported, there is a new flat-panel TV and DVD player in the living room in the Crane building.

May have more at the end of our stay.

Thank you for commenting on your stay. We understand that travelers expect services comparable to what they find at home, but technology becomes obsolete long before the in-room internet amenity pays for itself in a property as large as Weston Resort. With the technology of hotspots, unlimited data plans, etc. we find many of our guests do not place in-room internet service as a priority amenity. Therefore the resort strives to be frugal with our timeshare owner’s association budget and chooses to apply our owner’s maintenance fees in other needed areas, like the updated furniture and flat-panel TV’s you noted in your review. It is important however to note that Vacation Village at Weston Resort offers complimentary internet service in a common area on property like many other hotels and businesses. We are sorry that our resort did not meet all your expectations and we hope that our many other amenities and great accommodations will entice you to stay with us again in the future.

It's an ok place. Firm three stars. Be ready to be dinged for internet, cleaning (if staying less than a week) and probably other charges that I haven't discovered yet. Stayed in two different buildings. One had full kitchen with stove/oven and dishwasher. The other had a sort of kitchen with a sink and microwave. Which is fine if you are staying a couple of days but harder if you are there for a longer time. Very small work out area. Convenient location and price for my work when in town.

Thank you sharing your experience with us on TripAdvisor. Vacation Village at Weston Resort is a timeshare resort and the room layout you spoke of is very popular with timeshare owners and guests alike because it offers maximum privacy for large parties. The common foyer that separates the A & B Suites is secure from the outside, so the doors to each suite may be left open if desired. The A & B suites are usually purchased together, but sometimes rented separately depending on availability and price. Most hotel rooms do not offer the same amenities as our B suites, such as kitchens with a portable electric burner, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, icemaker, refrigerator and living and dining room area. Daily room service is not customary in the timeshare industry however we do offer mid-week service on the 4th day of stay. We’re happy that overall you enjoyed your time at the resort and hope to welcome you back soon.

So let's start at the beginning, check in process was a little long but no more than a typical hotel, yes there was the time share breakfast offered but you had the option to decline so no major pressure. We were with friends who were owners so had both the A & B sides of 7503 in the Osprey building. The room had a nice view of the beginning of the Glades and a private balcony. The living area was obviously bigger on the A side as expected but since we Kept the adjoining door open the overall space felt very good. Only minor problems within the units themselves, we had a small ant issue if we left food out, the stove on the A side had one burner that was temperamental and the toaster stopped working after a few days. we didn't report these issues since they were not a big deal but if Bernice (the concierge helping out while we were there) was any indication I am confident that they would have resolved it without an issue. The trip to the Casino is definately worth the $20 since you get the credit equivalent in free slot play. Bernice also hooked us up with Panthers tickets, and the front desk gave us great recommendations do where to eat and easy to follow maps. The spa had a nice deal on which was very enjoyable. Overall we satisfied, and our stay was exactly as expected. YES this is a timehare and they want to sell you a vacation, so be prepared, but hey what do you expect at a timeshare resort?

Well what can we say first we put the address into our GPS and it took us to one of their buildings which was not the check in building after driving around for 1/2 hour finally found the check in building could have posted signs for check in but none around, this seems a common problem at this resort since others said the thing at check in as well as the staff. Then we asked about Wi-Fi they said its $10 per day or $50 for the week talk about corporate greed staff said the same thing but they only work there. Why someone would make a resort in the middle of a residential area is beyond me, we stayed in the Flamingo building which is about a mile away from the main building and all the activity, did not feel like a vacation resort more like one of friends letting us use their condo for a week. The units are nice but need updating our TV was broken and they fixed it right away one of the plus things that happened.
We have stayed in several Vacation Village resorts and will not come back again to any of them same mentality as the rest of them its all about the bottom line with them and not the vacationer, they’ve taken the hospitality out of vacations .

Room Tip: Try to get the main building where check in is if you can find it where all the activity is at.

Thank you and we appreciate you taking the time to share the details of your vacation. Like many resorts we charge a fee for the convenience of in-room internet connection, however complimentary wifi is available in the computer room on property. Many guests choose Vacation Village at Weston Resort because of it’s location within the famous South Florida Spa, Tennis and Golf Community of Weston. Our condominium-style resort offers a multitude of amenities with maximum privacy for guests. Within minutes of Fort Lauderdale’s famed beaches and awe-inspiring Everglades, the resort has been the home to many satisfied guests through the years and we are proud of the services we offer. It is unfortunate that you have resolved not to travel with us again but we hope your experience does not deter you from visiting the city again in the future.

I just stayed here with my family of 6 from the 21st-23rd. Our stay was great from check in to check everything went smoothly. There was more than enough room for all 6 of us, one side had a king size bed, sofa bed, kitchen and bathroom with jacuzzi tub, and the other side had a queen size bed, a bathroom and a sofa bed. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly and the grounds were kept clean. I'm glad we stayed here, I would definitely return and I would recommend this place to my friends and family. This was the same price as the Marriott in Weston and I chose this over the Marriott because I had a bad experience there 2 months ago, I'm glad we took the chance with this place.

I also want to mention that although this is a timeshare, not once was I asked to purchase from them nor did they try to scheme to get me to purchase from them.

The location, cleanliness and courteous staff made this a good vacation.
However as previously stated the units do require updating for this resort to continue to receive Gold Crown Status.
We had an "A" unit in the Osprey building and although the bed was newer and the chesterfield and chairs had also been replaced there still are some upgrades needed.
Also the lounge chairs around the pool are some of the most uncomfortable we have used.

Room Tip: Request an updated unit and with some luck you will be given one.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our TripAdvisor readers. We appreciate it when our guests take the time to share their experience because it helps us know what areas we need improvement. It is important to note that only approximately 10% of RCI’s participating resorts have been awarded a Gold Crown status. This award recognizes quality and is given based on positive comment cards received by members who have visited the resort on exchange. Vacation Village at Weston Resort is proud to be a recipient of this award and we have continued to maintain this status. We hope you stay with us again so that we may continue to prove that Vacation Village at Weston Resort is a great choice when visiting south Florida.

Myself, my husband, son and his fiancee stayed here from August 5th 2011 until 19th,, It was a very pleasant experience.. After arriving we left our cases in our room to check out local area.. When we arrived back to our room we had had a flood, there were guys everywhere cleaning up the water... they were very apologetic and took us to another room..this room smelt a bit musty so we asked for another....this happened straight away....We were invited for a free breakfast which we declined (after reading the reviews)...we were expecting to be hassled however this was the only time we were asked and we were left to enjoy our holiday.. We had a fantastic time and visited some amazing places....Our apartment was situated in Heron 2 building where we had an A and B apartment....both were spotlesly clean and fully equipped with everything we needed....My only complaint if I had one was the maids only changed the bed once a week....however you could get clean bedding from the laundry and change it yourself. (which we dd)...Fantastic area to be in however you need a car to get around which we rented from Miami Airport.....some of the places we visited....Everglades, Miami, Star Island, Sawgrass Mills Mall, Miami Seaquarium, Helicopter Rides, Fort Lauderdale (Aruba Beach Cafe mmmmm), Hard Rock Hotel and Casino etc etc we even had a drive up to Orlando and went to Universal.....long day but excellent .....great place nice people :)

Room Tip: A and B Apartments
