“friendly hotel in excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2009

The staff at this hotel are some of the friendliest and most helpful we have ever come across. The location is great for city place and the beautiful Palm Beach. We were a family of 2 adults 2 teenagers and one child staying in a family room it was spacious and clean. The kids loved the wide screen TV. There was something for everyone with the free breakfast and we enjoyed the gym and Spa Pool. Would definitely return.

The Hyatt is in an excellent spot - everything is very close by. The parking was very easy, the rooms were the standard Hyatt Place rooms (which I personally like), the breakfast was pretty decent and the (small) spa pools were a welcomed relief.

I only paid $98 per night for this hotel and it was by far one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. I've stayed at Hiltons, Westins, The Ritz, etc. and this ranks right up there with all of them. Staff was great, the room was very modern & clean. Free breakfast was awesome. Parking was easy and the location is awesome! AND it was very affordable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!

Terrific hotel! Wanted to do a night out and chose this hotel mainly for its proximity to CityPlace. Impressive front in the middle of the city near the Intercoastal. No waterviews or balconies, though. Free self-parking in the covered garage as they only use valet during busy season. Check-in was smooth and the staff was friendly and very professional, but watch-out for the conveniently located snack bar. Everything looks and tastes great, but a bit on the pricey side. Yes, they got us. If you get the cookie (DO get the cookie) have it warmed, first! The breakfast was good, too, but understand that there is no restaurant on the premises. Just a few blocks away at CityPlace you can have any themed restaurant, though (we chose The Cheesecake Factory), along with a large movie theater. If you ask the staff, you can give you a free ride down to CityPlace in their brand new van as we did.

I don't know why some of the reviews downplay this as a "budget" hotel. I define budget as La Quinta, Red Roof, Best Western, ect. This hotel NOT in that catagory. The decor is straight out of a design magazine and is brand new. They just opened in February 09.

We got a room on the 4th floor with a view of the street and a new apartment building. Even the road is new. The room itself was extremely clean with a bar, workstation with every plug you can imagine, pull-out sectional couch with large ottoman, and the screen divider from small living room to bed was nice, too. The cavet is the large 42" plasma that sits on a swivel so that you can watch on the couch or in bed. The closet is hidden behind a mirrored door and the bathroom is modern with just a 1/2 glass partition. The floors got wet regardless, but the tile must be made just for that as they dried up in no time.

Another thing about this hotel that we noticed right away is how green it it. Lights turn off ofter not being used for a while, all light bulbs were the new, spiral kind with all controls mounted on the wall at the entrance and by the bedside. And the king-sized bed was very comfortable with feather pillows galore.

Although we went for just a night out, I would recommend this place to the business traveler as I couldn't imagine a better layout.

First off, I'm a bit of a hotel snob. I had stayed at some very nice Grand Hyatt properties, the stylish pics online caught my eye. It was a new hotel, during their slow season (Late May) and in the economic downturn they had bumped their $150 a night price tag down to $109. It was too tempting to pass up, especially when we were contemplating buying investment property in the immediate WPB downtown area.

The room was very stylish and well appointed with 2 queen beds, a large comfy sofa (with pull out) a work desk with all the techie bells and whistles easy to access. Free wi-fi and free breakfast.

But several design flaws really bugged me. First one was the open sink shoe-horned right in the middle of the room just a couple of feet from the beds between the (tiny) closet and the toilet/shower room. Fine if you're traveling solo, but if your company has you sharing the room with colleagues it would be hard to navigate the shower and clothes change with any modesty.

Then the extremely noisy A/C unit was placed below the window about 18 inches from one of the beds. An inexcusable design flaw for a South Florida hotel putting the a/c so close to the floor. I drew the short stick and was stuck next to the A/C which sounded like a truck idling in the room. The cold air blew right on me and as the physics of cold air will do, pooled around the base of my bed leaving me frozen. If we turned it down then the rest of the room became warm and stuffy. The scratchy linens and hard mattress negated the wonderful fluffy down duvet and superb pillows. I couldn't wait to get back home for a decent nights sleep.

And I couldn't understand why they saddled the front desk people with so many responsibilities. The 1 person on duty would run back and forth between check in, porter duty, restaurant duty and bar tending responsibilities. They told me the job description is for a multi-tasker. So they go from checking in guests at one side of the circular front desk to to serving them a beer on the other side. I didn't see a sink handy and most of the time with only 1 person on duty, I wondered if they could wash their hands after handling cash and before serving the food.

Like I said, a budget hotel trying for a stylish ambiance. Wouldn't go back. And no we didn't invest in any real estate down there either.

Hotel is very clean/ new. Staff is wonderful and very helpful. Only downside is they do not have a pool. They do have a hot tub/spa. Valet parking is available however there is more parking on the mezzanine if you prefer to park yourself. We did not find this until the last day of our stay.

This was our first stay at the new Hyatt Place Downtown and we will definitely be back! It is just blocks away from the nightlife of Clematis and a 2 minute cab ride to City Place. Our room was spacious, clean, and the bed was super comfortable! We also had the friendliest service I can ever remember getting at a hotel. Great job Hyatt Place! We'll see you soon!
