The company I visited booked me here. It was probably the best deal in the area. I paid $89 plus tax (AAA rate) This was early Sept.-- hurricane season. It is an older property, but had some modernization. The pool`was very nice with plenty of room. The room was dated, but clean. The maid service rated a tip as the room was completely made up with fresh linens every day. There is no restaurant that I saw and the free breakfast was coffee and tiny donuts or bagels, which was OK with me. There is a Krispy Kreme next door. This is a good location if you have business in the area and it's right off I-95. I'll stay there again when visiting my client.

“Cockroaches Sent Us Packing”

Comfort Inn Palm Beach Lakes

Several educators were booked here for a 4-night stay. When my flight arrived at 11 p.m., I was told my reservation had been cancelled because I hadn't arrived at 4 p.m. Since no suggestion for another room was offered, I requested one. I was booked into a room with a very, very loud A.C. The cold tap water was warm, and all drink vending machines were out of order. Moved to a newer room the next day because the A.C. in the new room could be turned off, I found cockroaches in my bed and on the nightstand at 3 the following morning. As a result, we moved to another hotel.

Notably, before we had even discussed a move, one of my colleagues discovered that a bill of around $400 was credited to her card, though the organization booking our rooms had a $69 a night agreement, and my colleague hadn't stayed 4 nights.

A very disconcerting experience.

“An Overpriced Pit”

Comfort Inn Palm Beach Lakes

We stayed at this hotel for seven nights when we were in West Palm Beach on business. The only reason I chose it was because when I made the reservation, it was the only place in the area that had availability for less than $200 a night. The only room I could book was a smoking room, but I've not usually had a problem switching at check-in.

When we pulled into the parking lot, it was completely full, mostly with construction trucks, trailers and equipment. We asked the front desk person where to park -- she shrugged and said anywhere we could squeeze in. She told us to park across the street at the doctor's office if we needed to. I also asked for a non-smoking room -- she said the hotel was full, but to ask in the morning because she was sure something would open up.

As we unloaded the car (parked illegally in a fire zone, but so were several other cars), we noticed a party going on in one of the rooms above -- people hanging over the balcony, loud music, lots of beer -- not a good sign, especially since it was only Tuesday. It turned out that many of the hotel guests were construction workers staying there for several months, giving the place had a frat house feel.

When we got into our room, the stench of cigarette smoke was overpowering. We opened the balcony door and turned the fan on high to air it out, but it took a couple of days to get rid of it. Once the smoke was gone, the dank moldy smell came forth. When I asked to change rooms the next day, I was told that the hotel was completely full, but to just keep checking in case something opened up. Since I overheard her saying the same thing to a couple of other people and we had work to do, it didn't seem worth the hassle.

The room was dingy and worn; the bathroom was moldy from the floor under the sink to the ceiling to the shower head. The fan blew on the back of the desk chair, making it uncomfortable to work at the desk, but there was road work going on outside, so you couldn't really turn it off and open the balcony door because of the noise and dirt. One morning at 7 am we awoke to crashing and yelling -- there was a construction dumpster parked under the window and guys were on the roof throwing debris down into it.

Every night before we got into bed we had to remake it -- if we didn't the bottom sheet popped off as soon as we laid down. Apparently no one ever taught the housekeeping staff how to make a bed. We only had the bare minimum of towels in our room, and one night I had to call and ask for them, because the maid didn't leave any. The ice machine next to our room never worked, and we never saw any of the little amenities, like a morning paper, that are promised by the Choice hotel chain and that you would expect when you're paying $160 a night for a room.

The hotel restaurant was closed for remodeling, but the rest of the common areas were in decent shape, the staff was friendly enough, if overwhelmed and inefficient, and the continental breakfast was adequate.

In short, it would have been a fine place for $80 a night, but for double that, it was a terrible value. Had I known what was going on with all of the construction on site and in the street outside, I would have paid more for a nicer place, or stayed a little farther away. In fact, we stayed in three other Choice hotels on this trip (all Quality Inns) and every one of them was overpriced, dirty, and decrepit.

I'll be cashing in my Choice points for airline miles, because I would never stay in one again, nor would I recommend them to anyone else.

“better than I expected, but needs more parking!”

I was on a business trip to Florida and was appalled at the high hotel rates in the area ($219/night for a Hampton Inn? No thanks!)

So, I found this place for $143/night. Now, granted, that is far more than I have ever paid for a Comfort Inn before, but it was the lowest-priced 2* or better hotel I could find.

Because it was so cheap (in relative terms), I expected absolutely nothing, but what I got wasn't terrible. The hotel certainly is far from luxurious, but my room was clean and the air conditioning worked. The common areas of the hotel (hallways, elevators, lobby etc.) were fairly worn, but at no time did I feel unsafe. The business center was "out of order" for my entire 4-day stay. Oh well.

I think someone else mentioned the parking problem. Yes, there is a serious parking shortage at the hotel. It appears there just aren't enough parking spaces for the hotel when it's at high occupancy. This was made worse by the fact that a large number of contractors appeared to be staying at the hotel (after all, this is Florida 3 months after a big hurricane - lot of out of state contractors working there) and they drive big trucks which take up multiple parking spaces. It was also made worse by the fact that the attached restaurant was under renovation and a big dumpster for that renovation took up several parking spaces.

For that reason, when arriving back to the hotel at night, the parking rule seemed to be "park wherever you can" including in handicap spaces, fire lanes, loading zones, or even on the grass. I never had to go that far, but it was still inconvenient. I assume that once the restaurant reopens, the parking situation will get even worse because a portion of the parking lot is designated for the restaurant, and hotel guests are currently able to use that as well.

I did have breakfast one morning and it was your typical motel breakfast with cereals, toast, yogurt, and coffee.

Overall this was a decent motel, and in the same circumstances I would stay here again.

“Beautiful Pool”

First time stay at a Comfort Inn, probably our last. Found it to be dirty (room) and always "out" of something i.e., breakfast food items, towels, etc.

Staff seemed unwilling to do things, i.e., maintenance when we reported clogged sink.

Also, inadequate parking when you returned to hotel late at night.

The pool and pool area are beautiful, but then again, this area is maintained by outside contractors.
