Business traveller, this was my third bad experience at this hotel in recent weeks.
First, they have a cancellation deadline, forcing the guest to GUARANTEE the room, yet for the second time that I arrived late evening, they gave my room away before I got there. (they made me guarantee my stay - but they assumed I wouldn't arrive and resold the room!).
This place has BAD MANAGEMENT with a careless customer-service attitude. Besides reselling guaranteed rooms, they also downgrade rooms booked with "choice hotel points", (ie: I booked a room with pool view, they insisted that none were available, although Choice Hotels verified that some were still available after I arrived).
Also, I arrived a few weeks ago for a stay on a day that they had massive plumbing problems. There were work crews on site opening sewers and the entire hotel literally smelled like human waste. Even in that case, they absolutely refused to let me cancel my reservation (it was 1 hour after their cancellation deadline).
Again, all these things point to management that encourages or demands that their staff take advantage of guests when possible. AND, the place isn't that great or even clean in the first place. I tried to look past these issues, but this is a BAD PLACE.
I was called to West Palm Beach for a family emergency.
Called the hotel directly and was told all booked up, called Hotels.Com and got a decent rate (about 170 avg) for 7 nights.
IT DOES PAY TO PLAN AHEAD, but I had 2 days notice and this was in a good location to where I had to be. It is located right off of 95 and within walking distance to some good places to eat.
It is also located about 10 min from the airport. about a $13 cab ride.
I Check in early and got a King , no smoking room overlooking the pool and parking lot. Room was cleaned early every day, and had plenty of hot water . Fridge in room was super cold. Computer hookup was there if needed. Front parking spaces fill up fast, but there is plenty of parking in back and on the sides with access to the hotel.
The hotel has a coffee and sandwich shop attached to it , which is ok for a snack. Don't look for a big meal here, its not happening. There is a free breakfast in the early morning till 930am, not too bad for a fast bite. no eggs or pancakes. They do have self made waffles, juice and coffee.
Hotel staff was friendly and more than helpful in dealing with a problem I had with Hotel.com in cutting short my stay. When it looked like I might not get out due to s snow storm in NY, the front desk was more than helpful in holding a room for 2 nights, at no cost.
Check out the Crazy Buffet across the street, very good chinese food and sushi. Also the Palm Beach Ale House for lunch or dinner, 5 min walk down the block. Can't go hungry in the area.
I would return if I needed a hotel in the center of Palm Beach.
The company I visited booked me here. It was probably the best deal in the area. I paid $89 plus tax (AAA rate) This was early Sept.-- hurricane season. It is an older property, but had some modernization. The pool`was very nice with plenty of room. The room was dated, but clean. The maid service rated a tip as the room was completely made up with fresh linens every day. There is no restaurant that I saw and the free breakfast was coffee and tiny donuts or bagels, which was OK with me. There is a Krispy Kreme next door. This is a good location if you have business in the area and it's right off I-95. I'll stay there again when visiting my client.
Several educators were booked here for a 4-night stay. When my flight arrived at 11 p.m., I was told my reservation had been cancelled because I hadn't arrived at 4 p.m. Since no suggestion for another room was offered, I requested one. I was booked into a room with a very, very loud A.C. The cold tap water was warm, and all drink vending machines were out of order. Moved to a newer room the next day because the A.C. in the new room could be turned off, I found cockroaches in my bed and on the nightstand at 3 the following morning. As a result, we moved to another hotel.
Notably, before we had even discussed a move, one of my colleagues discovered that a bill of around $400 was credited to her card, though the organization booking our rooms had a $69 a night agreement, and my colleague hadn't stayed 4 nights.
A very disconcerting experience.
