“The first impression was classless.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

The hostess has to learn how to speak with respect to the clientele, without being condescending.
I arrived wit a party of four, eager to try this new restaurant. My wife and I were upset as to how we were not accommodated .i was told that I could have the table by the door,in anticipation of reservations that took presidency.
I will not recommend eating here, and I will go to another deserving restaurant.

“Lots of things going right at Franco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Franco has a lot of things going right. The decor is calming yet upscale and interesting (modern yet not boring, loved the use of beautiful wood on floors and wall/ceiling panel). The menu is extensive, including the traditional Italian we expected, but with many items that go above and beyond a less expensive restaurant. We went on a Tuesday night, party of 4. Biggest heads up from my experience: The service needs some training by the management. Our sweet and well-intentioned waitress was unable to give reliable advice, and when the daughter of the owner came by (when we requested further help from the Maitre d' or supervisor) she was defensive, but gave a good recommendation. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, and assume her personal communication style was just punchy. First she said "everything is good." Of course she is going to say this, but I wanted help making an choice that would make me the most happy that night. I had asked for a recommendation between the Brancino or Chilean Sea Bass (the waitress had said "more order the sea bass". More what? Despite her lack of control of the English language, the waitress was good at the very basics. I only had to ask for more water once. Biggest problem, she didn't have knowledge of how the dishes were prepared, and she didn't have any personal knowledge of them. You can get this kind of knowledge from waiters at Olive Garden) I did take punchy lady's advice and order the sea bass and LOVED it. The fish was cooked perfectly, was mostly hot, the potatoes were hot, the veggies were cooked perfectly, if not hot when they arrived on the hot plate. 2 other people in the party had pasta, which looked fine, and they said the ravioli and penne with pomodoro were good. One had the veal chop parmigiana, which was heavy and not outstanding, but it was edible to the person who ordered it. The owner, who I saw on the way out, is a nice man and obviously has created a nice restaurant. I would recommend going here, but the key point is if you care about what you get (which I do), you might want to ask for advice on the dishes, and if you are not satisfied with an untrained waiter, ask for further help and then be prepared for a touchy, rather punchy reply. There might be other waiters that are trained. I hope so! But regardless of the wait staff, you can get good food here!
