“Awesome boat ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Wakulla Springs State Park is stunning. We took the boat trip which I would highly recommend. Lots of wildlife, turtles, alligators, two manatees --one so close to the boat one could almost touch it. A number of species of birds with some nesting. The hotel is old but very pretty. We decided to eat lunch in their restaurant and it was GREAT. Everything was homemade and our server was friendly and helpful. The restaurant is pretty and you have a sense of a different era. Most enjoyable!

“Natural Florida”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

Wakulla Springs State Park shows Florida in its natural state. The center point of the park is Wakulla Springs. Cool, clear water offer an inviting place to swim. A two story tower offer visitors an impeded view of the springs and the brave an opportunity to jump into the cool water. The nearby bathhouse provides a place for people to change in and out of swimsuits. The park also offers boat rides to give visitors an up-close view of literally hundreds of alligators and a large variety of birds. There is an extra fee for the boat ride, but it is well worth it. The state park also has a gift shop with a snack shop as well as a full service restaurant. The Wakulla Springs Lodge offers reasonably priced accommodations within a hundred yards of the springs. Do be aware, however, that the rooms do not have televisions, Nonetheless the rooms are quiet, comfortable and well appointed.

“Wildlife”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

Make sure you take the boat tour. Lots of wildlife (alligators, turtles and birds) and a very good narration of the history of the springs.

“Old Florida”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

I love visiting this park, from the old fashioned swimming area with a diving platform and floating docks, to the boat trips down the river to view the unspoiled Florida landscape. I'd give it 5 stars but it could use a little sprucing up. ( Please. Legislators, let's allocate a little more money for this treasure.) Not to be missed.

“The boat ride is the best attraction ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We took the boat ride and it was incredible. Beautiful vistas of tropical vegetation and clear water, with bird calls and sightings of many flowers and reptiles. We saw a number of alligators, and it never got old. The boat is fairly stable, so even when it is drifting, it was possible to take some excellent pictures. The guide identified all the wildlife, and was happy to remain close to a particular spot while the passengers took photos. If you sit on the port side (the right, facing front) you will be close to the shore both ways; if you sit on the starboard side (left, facing front) you will look at the middle of the river both ways. Either way, it is easy to get up and move around. April is a perfect time, as the weather is mild but there are not too many tourists or bugs!
