“Tops on this beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

This is the best beachfront property in the Vero Beach area. The entire staff was delightful and helpful with our questions and requests. We were contacted prior to our visit by the concierge and provided a nice package of information. Unfortunately since we were there over the Labor Day holiday, we were not able to take advantage of any of the spa services.

Our parking lot view room was a good size and comfortably appointed with twin balconies. The bathroom was large and featured a long counter top, a separate shower, tub and three large mirrors. Our towels were refreshed during dinner.

We used the pool bar, restaurant, and beach services and found them all to be above average in service and quality. Swimming here is pleasant due to the sandy bottom, but there is a bit of an undertow to be aware of. Great spot for walking up and down the beach to other bars, restaurants, and the pier.

There were a couple awkward things about being in the north tower. This hotel is shaped in a V with rooms in the center looking over the parking lot and driveway. These rooms are priced lower to compensate. All parking is valet only with an extra fee of $10 per night. There are no ice machines in the north tower so you must walk across the breezeway to get ice. The breezeway is narrow and the doors are not marked (a little plaque would help) so you need to learn which door it is. Also, all rooms are A & B and share the same entry door - so one must open two doors to access your room which is a noisy nuisance when you share the entry with a neighbor.

First of all, what a gorgeous hotel with great amenities...a hidden gem if you ask me. My family and I were greeted by the front desk and thanked me for being a Kimpton Inner Circle member. Then the General Manager came out and also greeted us and shared his appreciation for being such a loyal member. Very nice man...

We were given a wonderful room with a view of the ocean and the service was top notch. Oh and we also had dinner and breakfast at the Cobalt restaurant...the best braised short rib and ricotta pancakes we have ever had!

Honestly, the team at the Vero Beach Spa & Resort should be very proud of what they are doing at that hotel and showcasing the best that Kimpton has to offer. We will be back there this Winter...

Room Tip: Spend the few extra dollars to get a room with a view of the ocean... gorgeous sunrise!

Can't praise this hotel enough, my wife, Son and Nephew and I stayed for 8 nights in August 2012. From arrival to departure we were made to feel welcome and treated as 'guests' ( a trait our English hoteliers seem to have forgotten). The valets, receptionists, concierge, house keepers and maintenance all go out of their way to be helpful, respectful and importantly, happy in their work. Our two bedroom suite was stunning and the ocean view was spectacular. We had a problem with our door, we were in effect locked out, the maintenance team eventually sorted the problem and because they thought we had been inconvenienced, they left a really nice note and a bottle of wine. A really nice gesture. I can not find anything bad to say about the hotel and I am fussy, Vero Beach, don't change what you do because what you do is special and so much better than the rest and that is the reason why we will come back. Thanks. Rob King

A Lovely hotel with a great pool, bar area and beach location. You can walk to several restaurants and shopping areas. Pool area did get very crowded on the weekend, but during the week there was no problem getting a lounge chair. Beach area offers chaise lounges and umbrellas for a fee; small chairs on the beach are gratis.

Our accommodations were a two bedroom ocean front suite. The suite was beautifully appointed with a modern tropical feel, marble tiled floors, ceiling fans, blue/brown bedroom linens and animal print bathrobes. Ours had a small fridge and sink area with a dining table and 4 chairs (enough to have muffins and juice in the am, and drinks and snacks in the pm). The living room area had pull out sofa and TV. Two large bedrooms and two full baths made the unit perfect for family of 5. The suite #106 was right at beach level. At first we were disappointed because the view of the ocean was not what we envisioned, but later we were happy because the kids could easily access the beach and pool without using the stairs or elevators.

The housekeeping staff was a highlight, every night they would come in and make the sofa bed up for my middle child and give her special chocolates, like she was a princess. And after a wicked rainstorm another staff member put cushy mats around the living area so the kids wouldn’t slip on the wet floor.

The Valet staff was also extremely helpful and courteous. Ask them anything and they will give you all the local information, on favorite places to eat, easy was to get to where you want to go and background on Florida’s East Coast. Pool Bar staff was also very friendly, service at the bar is prompt and the food is good.

Room Tip: call the hotel directly when booking and ask about the view. Some rooms face the parking lot (calle...

Our accommodations were very nice - oceanfront 1BR suite with a huge master bath, full kitchen (lovely stainless appliances) and 2 balconies for catching the breathtaking sunrise every day. Just steps to the beach and a few more to the shops and restaurants of Vero Beach (oceanside). Our only complaint is that housekeeping was extremely slow - for 2 days out of our visit they did not come until almost 5pm (which is when they end their regular schedule) and this was not a good time for us. Even after requesting morning service, they still showed up after lunch although we had been out of the room since 8am. Just a minor hiccup in a very relaxing stay but still a bit aggravating considering the cost of around $300 per day...

We had a two-bed apartment, (2 adults, 2 teens). There was a mix up with our reservation upon arrival, however, Courtney(?) on the desk dealt with us courteously and promptly and we were soon in our lovely apartment. I really couldn't fault the way she handled things.

There was ample bedding for four with two bedrooms and a pull-out bed in the lounge and a double balcony. The shower was good too. Unfortunately we were only there for three nights and didn't really feel that we got enough benefit out of the room and hotel - it would have been nice to have another night there.

The pool was lovely, with complimentary towels and iced water and no pool staff hassling you, (I hate that, I really do!) The sea views were lovely and you could walk out onto the beach from the hotel.

The complimentary breakfast was pretty good and the glass of wine in the foyer between 5-6pm was a nice touch.

The only things I didn't like?

No kettle in the room. (I do like my tea and coffee on holiday!)
Lack of a proper fridge to store drinks and snacks was a problem, (we tried to put a few things in the mini bar but it was a struggle).
When we had lunch at the pool bar, despite us telling the server that our oldest had a peanut and nut allergy, his fish was served with a pesto salad. When I queried this, she went off to the chef only to report back - 'he said it only has a bit of pesto dressing on', (well, that's alright then - not!)

However, on the whole, I would recommend the Vero Beach hotel - the vast majority of staff were friendly and helpful but not 'in your face' or 'pushy' (like we'd experienced at the Ritz Carlton Miami a few years' ago, which ruined that particular trip, btw).

In the event that we ever find ourselves back in Vero Beach, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
