“Great Food and Atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

This restaurant just reopened under the ownership of a local chef (the server gave us this info). I had a turkey burger which was very flavorful. My husband had the special of the day which was same type of pork shoulder; it literally fell off the bone. He said it was very good. Clam chowder was also excellent. The special was $25 and my turkey burger that came with a salad was $10. The service was phenomenal. Each table has two serving staff and its not that fancy! I saw people there in jeans as well as dresses. Also available is an outside patio/bar eating area. We will definitely return when we are back in town.

“It's Back and it's Excellent”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Great food and ambiance! Loved sitting in the bar area and we were very pleased with the food. This is a Vero Beach Tradition which has re-opened. The fish and pork special were both prepared with care. The service left something to be diesired. The server was new and not familiar with the menue. As a result a sauce was omitted from one dish and we were not asked how we wished our catch of the day prepared. Let them work the "bugs" out. the place is something to see and the food is worth the wait. We will be back.

“A Favorite Local's Place is Back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Have been going to The Patio for over 20 years but the last few owners didn't do it justice so we stopped. The new owners/chef have brought back The Patio to its hey day and then some. We went for Xmas Eve dinner and were very happy with the experience. Restaurant had a wonderful decor, good servers, and the food was excellent. Of course the pricing is a bit higher than in the "old" days but you get what you pay for. Entrees come with a house salad and a starch. I had the onion crusted grouper ($23.00) and my husband had a Caesar salad ($8.00 entree size) along with a burger (selection of toppings) and fries, ($11.00). The only complaint he had was the fries are homemade shoestring fries. They get cold too fast. He had to ask for another order as his fries were cool. The next order, served in a funnel basket were excellent and hot! Cheapest entree was $16.00 and most expensive was $25.00. Glass of house wine was $6.00. Service was attentive. We hope to return for either dinner or lunch. It will become one of our regular choices when we decide to eat out. You can chose to eat inside in the formal dining room, at the bar, or outside at the bar or at a patio type table. There are two happy hours: 4:30 to 6:30 and 9:30 to close. Give it a try.

“Definitely a winner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

The restaurant is surprisingly large and beautifully decorated, providing a nice eating atmosphere. Attire can be casual through formal, much like the clientele. The menu is reasonable, but somewhat limited. However, the food is excellent, portions are large, and the desserts are scrumptious. The service is excellent, the waiting staff's attire is uniform, but pub-like. Prices may be slightly higher than average, but definetly reasonable. Entrees max out around $25, but mostly in the $18 to $22 range. My wife had their burger at $11 and it was the best build your own burger she's ever had: huge, grilled to perfection, and smothered in perfectly sauteed onions.
As the name implies, the restaurant has a very nice open air patio area under the roof of the building, but unfortunately, smoking ruins that area and submits customers to the smoke as they come and go.
