It's nice to be able to wander through such wonderfully kept up gardens and not have to be the one to take care of them! It was a really nice afternoons adventure. It was quiet, peaceful, relaxing, and very natural looking. The many kinds of water lilies was a pleasant suprise. Go, enjoy the quiet, walk slowly and be happy there are no flashing lights or loud music, act like you are on vacation.

I was on a business trip to the east coast of Florida,and decided to see if I could find out if there was botanical gardens in the Vero Beach area...To my pleasant surprise,I found one right close by.The Mckee Botanical Gardens has a wonderful,pleasant atmosphere that takes you away from the hussel and bussel of the world.
Lots of variation of palms,tropical plants,bamboo gardens,and streams with lots of water lillys.The walk took about 1.5 hours.
The only negative I could see is a lack of labelling of different plants that you my want to know what they are..
It's worth the 6 bucks!!!

Right now they are sponsoring a dinosaur exhibit which is statues planted throughout the garden. They are soooo lifelike sometimes it was stunning. However, i'm from florida so i've been ruined - in my opinion - by the bells and whistles of Disney and Universal because I was bored and wanted them to do more to keep me entertained. Don't get me wrong the place is beautiful and it was interesting....if you are into low key adventures this should top your list. It was cost effective (I think it was $9 for my son and I) The gift shop is cute but I didn't find anything to buy. Have a great time!

This garden is a refreshing and beautiful oasis from the Disney type attractions that are so common place. Lots of unique tropical plants and trees. An unusual creek with gorgeous flowering water lillies flows throughout the garden. A first class restaurant on the premises serves lunch. This was at one time Florida's premier tourist destination and should rightly be back up there after reopening Nov 2001.
