I stayed at The Driftwood the night before and the night of my wedding. I was disappointed that when we arrived at 4:30pm our room was still not ready. We needed to change for the rehearsal dinner and the room not being ready was problematic. The room itself was interesting. We had a sitting/living room area and a "bedroom" that could be closed off using shades and shutters. We used the full size refrigerator to hold drinks. The bathroom was average.

The best part of The Driftwood was the view of the ocean. We had a 4th floor room and a clear view of the coast. The hotel has been designated a historical landmark. There are many interesting things to see on the grounds of the property. The driftwood is everywhere! The small restaurant has good burgers. The entertainment is hit or miss. We heard one great singer in the restaurant (Matt Manning) and one not-so-great duo. The pool area is smaller, but there is also outdoor seating for those who would like to dine outdoors.

My parents and friends had suites with two bedrooms. One was quite nice with a street view, the other was average with a pool and ocean view (with balcony).

I thought the rooms' price was a bit high, but I guess that April is still "season" here in Florida . . .

“Room not as good, resort just as wonderful”

I had stayed at the Driftwood a few years ago and loved it, so when an opportunity to return presented itself I was very happy to go. The room I had stayed in the first time wasn't available, so I stayed in one in the B building. The suite was much smaller, more dated in ambience and strangely laid out. It was also kitty-corner to Waldo's, and because of the Christmas period they had bands playing every day, so it could get a little noisy.

The resort itself was still great. I discovered the second pool this time, which I much prefered to the one in the courtyard at Waldo's - no drinking folks watching you. The laundry facilities were also over there, so while I used them I got to chat with some of the cleaning staff. Very friendly folk.

The folks in the main office aren't quite so friendly, though they did answer questions when asked. Still, I liked having the opportunity to use the computer/internet and to swap books in the little library there.

And as always, the beach was wonderful!

My Mother and I stayed here through RCI when we were visiting my sister and her husband. It was perfect! There is not a bad thing I can say except for the rainy days we had the whole week, oh well. The location is perfect for walks on the beach or around town. Vero Beach is very quiet and early morning walks are great! The restaurants are also close. We had a nice kitchen in our room so we were able to eat in if we liked. The grocery store and other shopping areas are within a 10 minute drive. The staff is very nice also. When I return to Florida, this will be my place to stay!

“Great Location!”

Driftwood Resort

After reading the reviews of the Driftwood Resort, I went with an open mind. What I ended up with was a wonderful vacation. The room I had was actually a "cottage" (119) that had a open living room, dining room and full kitchen with 2 bathrooms and one bedroom. The one bathroom had a large shower, the other included a HUGE Jacuzzi tub. The bed was King size and comfortable (I personally perfer a firm mattress, noted others thought they were too hard). I was located next door to Waldo's Restuarant and Bar, also one of the 2 pools at the resort. So could be a plus or negative, I loved the convenience since I was a single woman traveler. It could be noisy with the band and bar crowd for families with small children. Drunk people in particular love to ring the bells outside of Waldo's! The beach was a very short walk from my room (my room did not have a beach view). The staff were all very helpful and friendly. One woman at the front desk area attempted to be a bit mean, but was easily made friendly by being extra nice to her :) They did have a few activities, but if you were not there exactly at the time it was to start you would probably miss it completely. The wine reception was the exception it lasted at least 1and half to 2 hrs, plus I won a free appetizer at Waldo's. I suggest you pass on the "hotdog lunch" The dogs were way over cooked and they called my room at 10 minutes before it was scheduled to start saying they were ready! The bartender, Elliott, at Waldo's was a great guy. Friendly, great drinks, great happy hour! The place overall is pretty low key which I enjoyed. Mostly, people in their 40's to 60's. Friendly and laid back atmosphere. I would definitely return again!

“About the Driftwood...”

Driftwood Resort

We stayed a week at the Driftwood Resort during Thanksgiving week. Being honest, I was a little afraid since I read the reviews, and when my husband told me about the Thanksgiving trip, I almost drop dead. The hotel is pretty, but it needs more care, they have a pc with internet and wireless for the guests and a bunch of books, so we can self serve for that (that's ok so we weren't 'incomunicado'), but the day we check in and the day after that, the pool was full of swimming bugs, the bathroom at the cottage was clogged and the sink too. But they solve that quickly.
The service, well, was more or less like we were invisible, there was a whiteboard with the activities during the week, but nobody asked about join the group. And, well, since we have 3 kids, the beach and the pool was OK and enough for them.
Since we used to travel without expecting activities in the hotels where we stay, have a good experience, and I only suggest that the owners have to improve cleanliness, and public relationships in their staff.

    • Liked — The beach and the pool were very close to the hotel, and the cottage was very comfortable
    • Disliked — the bugs in the pool and the ants in the cottage
