“Special Evening Out was Not So Special”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

Table next to us took over the area around us with the chef and hostess joining in the commotion. They ignored that we were trying to enjoy a romantic evening even after we told them we were celebrating a special anniversary. Our bill came to just under $200 with wine, tax and tip but not dessert. We skipped dessert because we were upset with our dining experience and just wanted to get out of there. Crab bisque was disappointing. Hog fish was their evening special but it was dry and tasteless. Salad wedge was ordinary. Shame on the chef and hostess for being so inconsiderate.

“Ups and Downs - Needs Some Work”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

Only consistency is over priced menu, especially for wine. Snapper, salmon and beef were dry and over cooked. Salads are run-of-the-mill. Service is usually good but what does it matter when the meal is average, you can't hear conversation over the loud table next to you and the flowers are plastic. Dessert tray is beautiful but the desserts themselves lack anything memorable in taste. Good place to people watch.

“Short on Quantity; High on Noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Popular restaurant in a small town that does not have any five star dining. Small portions for the prices. Nice sauces save otherwise mediocre entrees. They will continue to survive because they do not have much competition. We make it to Vero a couple times a year and the only reason we keep coming back here is our friends like The Tides. Wait staff is attentive. Entrees are attractively served. The Tides gets a low rating because the actual food is covered by fanfare and high prices plus it is noisy, crowded, rushed and lacks class. There are three other restaurants that compete for quality dining in Vero but only one serves high quality food. This is not one of them.

“Consistent fine dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013 via mobile

We dined at our favorite Vero restaurant again last night and have to say that after 8 years of visiting The Tides, we are consistently impressed. The level of attentive yet unobtrusive service is much appreciated as more and more lately we find service to be either disengaged or "in your face". The hostess station is very welcoming and I always find the personal touch of Claudia's interest in whether we were satisfied to be sincere and an effort to maintain the restaurant to its exacting standards. The quality and freshness of the food is terrific and while I am always happy with the local offerings from the sea last night I reverted my tried and true duck (the finest Ive ever tasted hats off to chef), accompanied with a pear sauce. While there are other fine choices in Vero's beachside, we always find The Tides to be on top of its game and most reliable for a relaxed evening and an innovative dining experience.

“One of the Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

The Tides is offering a variety of summer specials - this is "low season" in Vero but a great dining season for locals - so we visited for the first time. We were seated on their patio, received excellent service, and enjoyed one of the best meals I've had in Vero. Desserts are rich - at $10 per - but they, too, were outstanding. They offered wine specials, too, and our Sauvignon Blanc was one of our New Zealand favorites. An evening at the Tides is not just dinner - it's an event!
