“Wonderful honeymoon visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

We are Disney vacation club members. We chose to visit the vero beach resort for our honeymoon. We had a wonderful 6 night stay! We booked a studio. It was great for the 2 of us, but more people would benefit from larger accommodations. The only critiques are that the tv is rather small. Also in the studio there is not a full kitchen, but there is a mini fridge. In addition, we could clearly hear the people next to us-it was a lock off room, so that probably contributed to it. As dvc members it was a great deal, but is pretty expensive to pay regular rates.
The service was excellent; we had requested a scenic view and the staff moved our room to accommodate that. Management also gave us a free breakfast voucher. Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and helpful.

Amenities- it is Disney, so there are a lot of families and kids. If you have kids, there are tons of activities, both free and at a cost. There is free put put, a water slide, archery, tennis, etc. Of course there is the beautiful beach where you can rent chairs, umbrellas, jet skis, boogie boards, kayaks, etc.
We also won a sea turtle walk, where we were able to watch a green turtle nest- it was awesome!
We did eat out every night, but could have prepared more meals in our room if we desired. Check out our restaurant reviews for the area!

There were a lot of bugs, so come prepared. There are also daily thunderstorms, which are normal for this time of year. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back!!

As Disney Vacation Club members, we enjoy Disney Vacation Club resorts and have stayed at this resort probably 15 times in the past 13 years. We booked a 1 bedroom villa about 10 months prior to our May 6, 2012 check-in. We requested top floor, direct ocean view (specific room number) in building 15. I know they can't guarantee the room/view but we initially were given a top floor building 14 side view. We asked the check-in cast member if there wasn't a direct ocean view available in another building and she said there wasn't. We went to check out the view of the room we were assigned and upon seeing that there was no view at all (unless you call pool & plants a 'view'), we returned to the front desk to see if there was anything else available that might afford us some view of the ocean. We had booked this room 10 months out due to there being a full moon that weekend which I hoped to view from our balcony overlooking the ocean. At that point a manager was the one who received us on our return to the front desk and she found a room in Building 12 which was a direct ocean view room (not as nice a view as the room we wanted in Building 15, but best available - we could see the ocean beyond the beach (couldn't see the waves crash on shore). I guess the real point of all of this is - don't plan on seeing the beach from your room - especially if it's in one of the outparcel buildings (Building 12, 14 or 15). The 'oceanview' inn rooms may or may not afford an actual ocean view - could be just a 'glimpse' of distant ocean from the side of the building - especially if not on the top floor.

Once checked-in and in our villa - all was very clean and in good repair. Disney beds are not the best in the industry as we find them to be too hard. After 4 nights - it took a few days for my back to return to normal (and not hurt). We also had to change rooms at the end of our stay as our car broke down the first night we were there and we had to add a night to our stay to wait for it to be fixed. There was only a studio available...on a lower floor but in the same building - so it wasn't a difficult move and the room was ready early for us to transfer our stuff without being overly inconvenienced.

Obviously, I've focused on the couple of negatives of our stay (view, hard bed). However, I wish to say that the positives - cleanliness, beach, pool, food, and the management were exceptional. When our car broke (coming back from Walmart) we called the resort to see if anyone could help us return and they sent a sweet cast member, Colleen, to retrieve us and our groceries. Also - when we had to add a day due to delay in car repair - one of the managers (Jeanine) did everything she could to accommodate us. But she could only give us what was available which we appreciated since it was in the same building and ready for our transfer without us having to wait on a room to be prepared. Anytime they saw us they asked how things were going and if there was anything else they could do.
Couldn't ask for more.

The food in the restaurants, while a little pricey but what you'd expect from a resort, was very good. We also enjoyed the "Bleachers" (I think that was the name) which was the pool side quick food counter service. Burgers, hot dogs, and the healthy offerings were delicious. The "Dole Whip" pineapple dessert was so cold and delicious on a hot summer day. Our servers in the restaurant - Shutters, Niel and Jolene, were wonderful and we enjoyed seeing Jolene again as she's waited on us many times in previous trips. We feel like we're seeing old friends as there's not a lot of turnover in the servers at Shutters which speaks well for the resort.

All in all a very nice stay...only low points are hard bed and too few true 'ocean view' villas. High points - great management & server cast members, clean, family friendly resort.

Room Tip: For best chance of ocean view - choose 'ocean view' inn room and request 'direct ocean v...

We broke our journey from Disneyworld to the Florida Keys at Vero Beach. As DVC members we have been to Vero Beach several times, alone, with friends, adult family members and grandchildren. As with all Disney resorts the quality cannot be faulted. Great pool for the kids, walks along the beach, good food and accommodation.

Recently stayed at the Disney vero beach resort. Everyone was very friendly but they strictly accomidate to families with children. We asked the front desk for a fan because our balcony door wasn't sealing properly so the ac wasn't enough. We also asked for more coffee and were told it was a $3.00 charge for each additional packet. Pricey but fine. We were told someone would bring the coffee and fan to our room and we never received it. We also asked for our room to be cleaned because they don't do it during your stay. We didn't mind but asked for someone to come sweep the bathroom because a lot of sand had accumulated there. That never happened either.
The pool is only 3ft 6in just enough to cool off in. No floats are allowed only noodles provided but not enough to handle the amount of children who want to use them.
The location isn't near anything. Atleast a 10 minute drive just to the gas station and further for dining, etc.
It is located right on the beAch which is
nice. All staff was very nice and friendly.

We enjoyed our stay at Vero Beach. The room and amenities are ready for a renovation (like Old Key West) but we liked it regardless.

I can't say enough good things about this place. From the moment we enter the lobby there's a feeling of sheer joy. We've been going for so many years we have our "own room" (okay it's not ours but we try and get it each time!). Room very clean and beds very comfortable. Okay the TV is a little on the small side but we're not here to watch the tv!

All staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Although the resort was fully booked it still was surprising quiet - okay round the pool it was a tad noisy but it is a family resort after all! What I enjoy the most is sitting on the beach where all you can hear are the waves...pure bliss! Can't wait to return.

Our recent visit to Disney's Vero Beach Resort was pretty much just as we imagined it would be: a very relaxing, clean and comfortable property with a touch of the Disney magic. We booked an Inn Room (#2218) with an Oceanview. The room itself was much like a typical DVC studio except that there were two queen beds and no sleeper sofa. My favorite part of our trip was simply having breakfast (usually Pop Tarts or cereal and OJ!) on our balcony each morning watching the waves roll in. I would HIGHLY recommend booking an Oceanview room. Our trip would have been far less enjoyable without the view.

Otherwise, the resort is very typical of other DVC properties with immaculate grounds, friendly staff and decent dining choices. In general, I am not a big fan of Disney restaurants. The food is generally average and overpriced. However, for the most part, we enjoyed the meals that we had at the restaurants on property. The Sunday brunch at Sonya's was great with tons of options, both hot and cold, for about $23.95 per person. My wife ordered the Shutters Seafood Boil for dinner one evening. It was HUGE and could have easily been enough for two people! Very tasty! The only average to below average meal was at the poolside cafe. This is really a poolside snack bar serving "bar" food. It was only okay. We did order pizza delivery from the pizza place next door, Orchid Island Pizza. They deliver to the front desk at the resort. Pretty good.

We rented a couple bikes at Ebb & Flo's (located by the pool) and followed the guide map on a 7 mile ride around the neighborhood and along the "Jungle Trail", a dirt road that runs along the river. The bikes aren't great, but, it was an enjoyable ride.

There is easy access to the private beach. We enjoyed a stroll along the water's edge collecting seashells and dodging the surf. We aren't really "beach people", so, we really had no interest in renting a cabana our lounge chairs on the beach. However, I was a bit surprised at the cost of these rentals. One could easily spend $25-30 a day for these items alone. Lastly, we don't have young children anymore, but, for those that do, there are tons of activities scheduled for kids to keep them entertained.

All in all, we really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Vero Beach. It was a really nice change of pace from our typical DVC vacation. A nice place to use up a few extra DVC points that you have left over. We hope to return again in the not too distant future. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Book an oceanview room even if you have to pick an alternate date for your trip.
