We stayed there during the Fourth of July weekend and loved the place. We had a ground floor cabana room next to the pool and facing the ocean. The room itself was great. Very nicely appointed, nice furniture with a "green" theme throughout. The bell hop took time to go through the room to tell what everything was made of and where the materials were from. Nice little touch. The bathrooms were great and there was a mini bar in the room. The bar was empty since the vendor had not had a chance to fill it yet so we just had a small fridge for some water and a 6 pack.
The best part of the room (#126) was its location. We could walk out on to our patio and to our private lounge "beds" (no chairs but we could pull our room chairs outside). As it was next to the pool, we could walk 20 feet and jump in if we got hot or walk down the dune to the beach if we wanted to get in the ocean. You can't beat 20 feet from the pool and 50 yards from the ocean. Warning, there is a DJ at the pool during the day and the music can be loud if you want peace and quiet. The DJ moves to the restaurant at night and they turn Oriente into a night club.
We did not go to the restaurant, Oriente, but we did get food at the outside pool bar and some room service. Service was quick and the food was wonderful. Chicken empanadas were phenom.
Drawbacks--our room service tray sat by our door for 2 days. Pretty sloppy. Also, the layout is wierd. You have to walk outside by the pool or through a little storage area by the stairs to get from the lobby to the rooms. Not a problem our weekend but it could be bad if it was raining.
Check in was easy and valet was quick. They did not charge us for valet, not sure if it is complimentary or if they just forgot to charge us. It was the first (or second) week so there are still kinks to be worked out, but I will definitely go back again.
