“Always a great meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2008

We have dined repeatedly at this restaurant and have always had a fabulous meal. During the busy dining hours, yes, you may have to wait for your reserved table when you arrive. But enjoy sitting at a table with market umbrella curbside savoring a glass of wine until your table is ready. Their glassware are above the norm with other restaurants. Cindy is always a pleasant server and takes great care of us. The specials are fabulous. Wish the duck breast would appear soon again! The salmon is wild, not farm raised. Even though everything is a la carte, this eatery has good value for the dollar. The owners are approachable to meet any special menu needs. This is our favorite restaurant and frequent at least twice a month.

“The Very Worst Dining Experience Ever”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2008

We read all the great reviews of this restuarant so we decided to make a reservation during our honeymoon in nearby Siesta Key. Upon arrival, we were asked if we had a reservation. After giving our name to the hostess (Cindy, who actually took the resrvation by phone three weeks in advance) our name was not on the reservation list. We were however seated. The young woman who was our waitress, had a snooty attitude about her as she took our order of gnocchi and lasagna. She then brought us some bread which was fresh and some kind of tasteless spread . It was not explained to us what this spread was. We asked for water with no lemon and were brought two glasses of water with lemon. When our dinners arrived, they were very bland looking and tasteless to the point that after a few bites, we knew the reviews of this place were dead wrong. A fellow came by and asked if we wanted grated cheese. It was in a bowl and definetly from a can, not fresh grated as one would expect in a fine Italian restaurant. There were two couples seated around us who also left a great portion of their dinners. It was also not explained to us that all you get is the dinner, no salad, no vegetable, etc. My wife had to use the rest room and guess what...no toilet paper. If you like potted meat or Chef Boyardee, this is the place for you. Previous positive reviews had to be bogus.

“Great food with an attitude”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2008

The food is awesome but be prepared for an attitude if you don't have a reservation. The staff is snooty to newcombers or anyone out for a spontaneous Italian meal.

“Great place, locals are very lucky!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2008

Well after eating our way through Boca Grande, Englewood, Venice, Sarasota and in between, last night we ate at a very , very good restaurant. Cassariano Italian Eatery did not re-invent the wheel, they just know how to run a restaurant with very good food & service. I knew after we were seated when I saw the Chef at his station with a complete view of the dining room that he was watching everything. Our server was new but trying very hard to do everything right. The food, wine and energy of the restaurant was one that compares to any major city restaurant. We are so happy that this Chef found his way to Venice. Plan ahead and make a reservation or get there after 8:00pm. Next Winter there will be no guess work on where to eat Italian food, good luck and if your a local, please support this spot and leave Olive Garden to the people who just don't get it.

“Venice Finally Gets Italian Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2008

We have been living in Venice for 5 years. We moved here from Long Island New York, where excellent restaurants was the norm. Until Cassariano opened, Italian food in Venice was non-existant. Ketchup was passed as gravy, and many people in Venice considered that as gourmet. Since Cassariano has opened, there is no other restaurant we consider eating at in Venice. The food is genuine Italian, delicious, and fairly priced. The menu is interesting although somewhat limited. The non-classic fish dishes are just as excellent. Maybe as the two owners establish themselves more securely, they will be able to offer more specials, even if it means they have to charge a little more. We definitely would pay. Keep up the good work.
