“Adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2014 via mobile

We stayed 2 nights, the room was designated non-smoking. We could tell that by the ashtray that was turned over which had a no smoking decal! The annoying leftover smoke odor was faint and really wasn't a problem as we were only in the room to sleep and bath. Overall, the room was very clean and the location was very convenient to the center of Venice and the beaches as long as you had a car.

I stayed here as most places were expensive or sold out on night I was looking for hotel. This hotel is basic but had no problems with noise or location. It was a good deal and front desk was friendly. They should supply playpen or cribs for babies though.

we checked into the motel 6 venice this past weekend for a close by getaway I had mixed emotions because of all the negative reviews but what we found out was there were no potholes in the parking lot but there was one on the entrance rd yes the rooms were tiny even by motel 6 standards we had asked for a non smoking room but wound up with a smoking room on the first floor but the smoke smell was very minor and taken care of with fabreeze the room was tiny and basic 2 queen beds that showed there age and sagged a little but not bad we slept good the bath room was decent sized and very clean the shower was a circular shower not spacious but manageable and im a big guy they had the basic motel 6 style furniture a combo desk chair which held the 19 inch old school motel 6 tv but the tv worked well and had many channels including hbo and espn but the big plus was the heated pool which felt like a big bathtub very comfortable although it showed its age probably need to be resurfaced cosmetically but the heated pool was very welcome as it can be very hard to find an affordable hotel and that allows pets especially in this area of florida in the spring its the only motel 6 with a heated pool in florida I think and first motel 6 ive stayed at in many years with a heated pool the area around the hotel seems to be safe I did not see any bums or vagrants or other undesirables hanging around there is a combo liquor/conveniance store/carwash and a pizza hut next door and several fast food places and a supermarket within 3 blocks its only about 3 miles or so to venice beach areas with free parking so to sum it up its basic and affordable not fancy if your expecting the Hilton or Marriott you probably will be disappointed but for 68.39 a night on a spring weekend in venice its a good deal for example the cheapest other chain hotel in the area was the ramada for 169.95 plus tax so if you can afford the Marriott or ritz carlton go for it if your looking for a basic affordable pet friendly option in venice its motel 6

Room Tip: it seems like most non smoking rooms are on the second floor

We spend a couple weeks in Venice every winter working. We have stayed at this motel for years. It has gone steadily, steadily downhill - though I can tell they have done some cosmetic stuff (paint, a bit of landscaping). Housekeepers and front desk folks (and the manager who is there training the staff) are great - hardworking, courteous, and busy all the time. But the property itself is disgraceful. The floors (carpet, I am sorry to say) should get the place shut down by the health department. Venice is a very popular tourist spot; spend some money and remodel this place and for heaven's sake get RID OF THAT DISGUSTING CARPET! And get some decent sized TV's.

So we drove straight through from Michigan to Florida and we decided to stay at Motel 6 because I knew it would be available from previously living in the Venice area. This hotel's beds are older than I am. They sink in the middle, creak, and you can feel the springs. The tv's are horrible the old tube ones. They hardly have any channels, they charge you for wifi. The people who stay at this hotel are pretty shady. I found a booger on the headboard. There is no water pressure in the sink, shower or toilet. The toilet took about 30 mins or longer to flush 2 times in a row. The shower is so narrow, so forget shaving. There are only two pillows in the room. There was a big black hand print behind the bathroom door. If you're desperate for a room at a cheap price then it may be worth it. This place is definitely not for anyone staying for an extended period of time. The AC does not have a thermostat to set, just high or low, so we froze our buns off. Newly renovated means, new small shower, new linoleum in the bathroom, and a new comforter. They do not offer shampoo, conditioner, lotion or hair dryer. Their bath towels are about the size of a hand towel. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Ramada or Holiday Inn Express. They may cost a little more, but it is worth it in the end.

Room Tip: Just say no.

We are done with Motel 6. Not worth the few extra dollars you save over a good motel. Kara was very nice when we checked in, and that was our only good experience. It originally seemed that this would be a good Motel 6, but Kara went home and thus went their PR.

Terri was up during the night, because her Mom was not feeling well. She did not sleep well, and when she tried to sleep during the day they started pressure washing the building. This scared the dogs and they didn't know what to do. One of our dogs has seizures and Terri was worried about this. When they pressure washed the door it sounded as if the door was going to open. Terri's reaction was to go for the door. When she did she fell off the bed and sprung her hand. It was ridicules.

We contacted the manager who said there was nothing he could do about the pressure washing. He didn't offer an answer as to why they didn't place guests in an area of the motel where pressure washing wasn't being done. Why would you place guests where you are doing pressure washing? We asked for our money back, which they agreed to, but said it would take up to 15 days to get back on our card. I don't understand why they can take money out instantly, but need 15 days to put it back!

The "snooty" woman at the front desk gave attitude about it being the bank that decides when credit goes back on the card. We found out differently from our bank. She told us that she had once worked at a bank, and therefore felt herself to be an expert in banking. What happened to the bank job if you are working at Motel 6?

Never again, Motel 6. Don't keep the light on for us. It will be on a long time!

Room Tip: Go to another motel if you want a good room...

We stayed at this Motel 6 in Venice Florida from the 26--27 of April, it was only one night and I would return to this property, and probably never frequent any Motel 6 again. I thought I would try a Motel 6 and this being my first experience at Motel 6, I would certainly say.....it will be my last !
Our room smelled very, very bad, and the worst was the beds....they smelled like dirty old socks and wet dogs ! When I think of the smell, it still makes me gag !
Sure, the property and location are just OK, BUT when I hand over my money for a bed and a room....I expect a relatively clean room and a bed that is clean enough for me to sleep ! Even at $ 55.00 plus tax for 2 persons a night, I feel that this room was only worth $20.00.....We have stayed at 100's of hotels and motels...and we are not super picky or high end customers, but this motel was the worst night I have ever spent in a motel, and the smell lingered for days on our luggage and clothing
