“The new and improved Snook Haven.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

Since sharkey's took over Snook Haven, the food, atmosphere and service, both inside and out, have improved quite a bit. Great place for a cold beer and a sandwich at lunch. Plan to linger a little to catch the scenery and great people watching.

“Went with Hubby's 90 yr old Grandma, what fun!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

So, visiting my Hubby's Grandma and asked her where she wanted to go for lunch. She saw an ad for this place in the paper and hadn't been in years, wanted to go again. Well, we pull up and a band is playing and people all around. I knew instantly Hubby would Love this place! Food was good but atmosphere is better. Neat place nestled back in. Had a wonderful time and can't wait to return. So glad we found this place. Hubby's Grandma kept saying it had changed, but she enjoyed her food. Think everything changes as you get older. I hope I am able to go here when I am 90!

“A unique environment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2014

The setting of this restaurant is unique being an old smokehouse-type building on the Myakka River in a wooded area. The food was fair, but the setting made up for this; you go for the overall experience not the food. the cheesy grits were coarse and not very flavorful. The blackeyed pea salad was bland; however the pulled pork BBQ was tasty. Our server, Ruthie, was a hoot, very enthusiastic! We took the riverboat tour which was pleasant and worthwhile for the price. We saw some critters including vultures disposing of a dead wild boar on the shore. There were several alligators, but they are everywhere and easy to see in any body of water. While the meal was nothing special, it is a fun place to spend some time.

“Location fine, but food bad.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Three of us had smoked pork of three different kinds. Meat was dry like cardboard. Salmon special was extremely small and veggies and rice did not compensate. Unlikely to try again.

“Neat place, boring BBQ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Old Florida at its best... BUT don't go for the BBQ, no real flavor, smoke or spices. Stick to the fried food. Good service.
