This was an unbelievable find on a busy Saturday night in Venice, FL. After being turned away at the #2 rated restaurant in Venice (nasty hostess), we walked to James Place and were greeted by a friendly hostess who immediately made us feel at ease and welcome, and seated us in a premier booth. While reviewing the menu, the owner came over and chatted with us and advised us of an unadvertised special on scallops. "These are to die-for" scallops," he said. "You must have them."
We took his advice and ordered them. They were delivered promptly, and were everything he had said they would be. The presentation was excellent. The scallops were laid on a beautiful, and tasty bed of greens and swiss chard, surrounding a scoop of perfectly-cooked basmati rice. What a diversity of texture and flavor.. The scallops themselves were as fresh as could be, delicious, and prepared to perfection. We were lovingly attended too by the waitstaff, chef, and owner. Please include James Place Island Grill in your dining plans while in Venice. We did and were rewarded for that decision.
