Our 8 day stay in March was our 3rd time with the Island Inn and, again, we were delighted with it. The staff at the front desk are friendly and helpful, the rooms (we stay in a beach front room) are clean and nicely furnished, and the beach is huge and rarely has more than 20 to 50 people on it! This is the "quieter" part of Treasure Island in that there are not high rise hotels surrounding the Island Inn; a 10-15 minute beach walk in either direction will take you to busy areas - if you crave busyness. While there are a few categories of rooms available, we've always booked one of the beach front ones w/ either 2 double beds or 1 king size bed. The kitchenette is good for preparing breakfast (which we would eat on our private balcony each morning), lunch (ditto on the balcony...), and for keeping snacks and drinks at hand. We were so exhausted our first night there that we ordered take out food that we re-heated in the micro-wave and then, yes, dined on the balcony. This is not a multiple star resort - you are on your own for all of your needs. However, it is perfect if all that you want/need is a gorgeous beach, comfortable and clean accommodations, an efficient cleaning staff, and helpful front desk folks.

We checked into the Island Inn the day after we got into Treasure Island. Our first night was spent in a hotel down the road that was a dump (the Jefferson). The staff at the Island Inn is very friendly and the room we rented was great (205)! It was recently updated with new cupboards, tile floors, and decorated very nicely. It was clean and comfortable. The beach/view were wonderful and there's a great tikki bar in the back, too! I would definitely go back to this hotel. We had a great time and hated to leave.

“Genuine Paradise Location”

Island Inn

Feb 5, 2008

We stayed at the Island Inn after contacting a private owner directly via the Internet, and booking their condo on the 5th floor for a 10 night stay in July 2007. Treasure Island itself is a superb beach resort, rarely will you find somewhere so non-commercialised in the US, not even a McDonalds in Treasure Island! :-)
Lots of lovely restaurants and loads of places to see by going a trip in the car.

The Island Inn is a reasonably basic standard of accommodation and as we were using a private owner's condo we were self-catering. They had gone to a lot of effort to make the place really homely so our particular apartment was pretty unique.
Only downside was the uninvited intrusion of a few cockroaches the night we arrived, which put us off a bit. However we pest-sprayed the doorway every night after that and never saw any for the rest of the holiday.
Sitting on the balcony with a drink whilst seeing an almost deserted paradise beach in front of you was a real highlight, not to mention a sublime sunset.

A general criticism of the resort is that not much happens after 10 at night so if, like my girlfriend and I, after a day of sunbathing you like heading out for a meal quite late before heading out drinking at a lively venue, then you will struggle to find anywhere lively enough at all!
And definitely bring your passport because despite being well into our 20s we were ID-ed everywhere!

Would highly recommend Midway Grill as the best restaurant.
Treasure Island is a superb place to chill-out and enjoy the sun, whilst lots to see visiting the Gulf Coastline when you want to head out for the day.

My family and I stayed at the Island Inn for the first time in December 2007. I read many reviews on different hotels on internet sites and finally decided on the Island Inn. I booked through Expedia and got a great rate and I highly recommend them. After I booked, I called the Island Inn and asked that our room be one of the recent refurbished rooms and they said no problem!

The check-in process wasn't real smooth because we used our bank (debit/credit) card. I didn't think they were going to take it at first, but they ended up taking it when I agreed to pay in full at that time. We also had to use a regular credit card to hold a $50 deposit on for incidentals (beach chairs, etc.). The people at the front desk were very friendly.

Our room was on the 2nd floor and the balcony overlooked the beach. We couldn't have asked for a better location or view. We had 2 double beds, a TV, table and 4 chairs, a snack bar that separated the small kitchenette area from the beds, a full size frig, 3 burner stove and sink. All dishware, cookware and utensils were provided along with a microwave and coffee maker. There was a small bathroom and the sink was located outside the bathroom which was nice because one person could get ready while the other was bathing.

There were three patio chairs on our balcony and a small side table. The room was non-smoking, but you could smoke out on the balcony if you chose to do so.

Laundry facilities were located on our floor and they were only a few doors down from our room. Washers were $1.25 and dryers were $1.00. They were decent equipment and I never had to wait to use them.

A newspaper was left outside our door every morning free of charge. Cleaning service was provided daily, but we just opted for clean towels and having the trash emptied. Dish soap, hand soap and bath soap were also provided.

Our room decor was a beach theme and the room and bathroom was clean. It wasn't a 5-star, but there was no signs of bugs and the beds were okay. We also had a double sliding door closet to hang clothes and a safe was provided free of charge in our room. There was a lot of storage space so were able to unpack 4 people and store our luggage.

Chairs and umbrellas were available for $10/day (2 chairs/1 umbrella) and beach towels were free to use. There is a heated pool and a Tiki bar at the pool area. The bar closes very early, though so don't plan to sit out there during the evening and drink a few. You'll have to walk down the beach for that. The beach was very nice and clean and we walked up and down it every morning. We found a lot of shells and many sand dollars in the water. We watched dolphins that were in close to the beach and could even see them from our balcony.

There is a computer in the lobby and it has internet service. Guests can use it free of charge. There's also free coffee in lobby along with flyers for restaurants, etc.

SOUR NOTE: We saw the general manager speak to a desk clerk in a very rude manner in front of hotel guests. We felt this was very unprofessional and we were embarrassed for the clerk.

My faimly stayed at the Island Inn resort from Dec 26th 2007 through Jan 5th 2008. Making reservations was simple with one phone call into the lobby. You are able to make reservations on the website (somewhat). However the website is limited and outdated at best.. As we spend a great deal of time in that part of Florida we were able to check out the resort first hand before commiting to reservations. Upon check in, the front desk was friendly and helpful. Our rooms were ready and waiting. (we had two adjoining rooms. #319 and #321. Although each room is independently owned, both rooms appeared very similar in decor. Very simple, yet well equipped for an extended stay. The rooms were clean with our only concern being the tile grout seemed unkept and dirty. Outside of that, you get what you pay for, and this was a really good value. We had daily maid service around 10:00. At all times the staff was excellent and friendly.
NOW.. the best part of the hotel is your Ocean view. It is PERFECT. You can hear the waves crash on the beach and you have miles to walk north and south. At sunset you can sit on your balcony and watch the sunset in orange and blue. The pool was clean and very warm and the little Tiki bar was a nice touch.
The resort is low key and not roudy at all. This is not a place for the "party crowed". You will always have enough space on the beach and there was always enough chairs at the pool. We would stay at this location in the future.
