My faimly stayed at the Island Inn resort from Dec 26th 2007 through Jan 5th 2008. Making reservations was simple with one phone call into the lobby. You are able to make reservations on the website (somewhat). However the website is limited and outdated at best.. As we spend a great deal of time in that part of Florida we were able to check out the resort first hand before commiting to reservations. Upon check in, the front desk was friendly and helpful. Our rooms were ready and waiting. (we had two adjoining rooms. #319 and #321. Although each room is independently owned, both rooms appeared very similar in decor. Very simple, yet well equipped for an extended stay. The rooms were clean with our only concern being the tile grout seemed unkept and dirty. Outside of that, you get what you pay for, and this was a really good value. We had daily maid service around 10:00. At all times the staff was excellent and friendly.
NOW.. the best part of the hotel is your Ocean view. It is PERFECT. You can hear the waves crash on the beach and you have miles to walk north and south. At sunset you can sit on your balcony and watch the sunset in orange and blue. The pool was clean and very warm and the little Tiki bar was a nice touch.
The resort is low key and not roudy at all. This is not a place for the "party crowed". You will always have enough space on the beach and there was always enough chairs at the pool. We would stay at this location in the future.

“Would I stay again? Yes, but..........”

Island Inn

Nov 27, 2007

I checked out today after five days. My first thought upon entering room 401 was "drab". The room was furnished very cheaply and didn't appear to be that clean. The sheets and towels were very dingy. I have one word for them: "bleach". The room was a nice size for one person and had 2-burner stove, apartment sized refrigerator and microwave. Bathroom was just large enough for toilet and tub. The sink was outside the bathroom. I used some of the dishes and left them in the sink. The maid "washed" the dishes. I found food spots on them when I pulled them back out. The closest places to eat were somewhat of a hike. Nothing closer than two blocks away. A couple were a nice walk down the beach though. The nearest "grocery" store was a 7-Eleven a couple blocks away. The great thing about the room was the balcony overlooking the gulf. Fabulous sunsets every evening.

The price was right at $105/night (with AAA discount). All in all not a bad place. Just not great. And, let's face it- a bad place on the beach is better than a good place anywhere else.

We just checked out of the Island Inn today August 4, 2007 and had a wonderful time. This is not our first time at this property. It was GREAT. The room had a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico from our balcony. The Tiki Bar on the property was quaint and the bartenders were friendly and make a mean Margarita. In the lobby they have wonderful coffee every morning. They have a beautiful clean pool and you can throw an apple (or coconut) and hit the ocean. Special thanks to Daniela for making our stay extra special. We were in room 516. All of the staff was great. The Island Inn is within walking distance of two great restaurant/bars. Sloppy Joe's and Caddys on the Beach. This visit to the Island Inn was definately a FIVE star.

“Undergoing some interior renovation”

Miami Beach, Florida
Jun 24, 2007

Just returned from my second stay at the Island Inn. During the week of June 7-14 there was quite a bit of construction going on in the hotel (not the unit where I staid). However, the drilling and hammering started around 8:30 and lasted into the afternoon and could be heard in the entire wing. They were removing flooring in some units, whole south wing, third floor, and laying new tiles. Otherwise, the hotel was still the same, great beach. If you are planning to go in the near future, make sure to ask if they are doing any renovation at the moment and if so, ask for a unit the farthest from it.

    • Disliked — lot of hammering and drilling as early as 8:30 am

Our second stay at Island Inn in less that 1 year. Would go back in a
heartbeat!. Room 501 view was awesome! Has nice corner balcony, room nicely decorated. Not as "worn" as room 312 we had last time. Encountered quite a bit of noise 1st night there, (on a Friday) people arriving late, taking luggage to rooms-loud in corridor until about 2:00 a.m. Did not encounter this any other nights there (stayed
1 week) Clerk at desk said that 9 families had not checked in as of 11:00 p.m., late arrivals. He also said the it was unusual for May that they were that full every weekend. North end of resort is next to small public access lot. Most nights lot was empty by 10;00 or 11:00 p.m.- usually only four or 5 cars parked in it, little noise from it. Pool and grounds very clean, Tiki Bar available for some refreshments. All of staff friendly and helpful.
