“Great Two Day Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2014

We stayed here because it was on Treasure Island, not far from Johns Pass, and on the ocean. The room was very nice and we slept well each night. The staff was very helpful. The restaurants were clean and the food good. The only thing we did not like was the ocean water was about a quarter of a mile walk from the hotel over the sand. The pools are nice but small.

Room Tip: Be advised not to get a pool view room on the first floor. The noise from the pool was a little dis...

The first hotel I stayed in Florida was the Gold Key. After moving down, my first out of town stay was Bilmar, Treasure Island. It's a super hotel, a very good resort. The Island has grown a lot since the sixties. T he resort has restaurants, bars, pool, gym, the whitest sand on the Gulf of Mexico. You are located in the middle of night life, restaurants, shops, entertainment. The staff is friendly, the rooms are comfortable. Cost $$

Room Tip: Try to get a suite on Gulf of Mexico

I visited the Bilmar the weekend of 7/26-7/28. I must say first that I don't typically stay places where access to rooms is outside - with that in mind I knew it would be an older property (as stated in many reviews). I took a chance because the reviews were good and I was running out of options.

Well, I gotta tell you that I loved the visit. Check in was a breeze and the staff was super friendly and very helpful. The $15 resort fee was reasonable for what it included - it even came with 2 chairs to take to the beach and other discounts. Taking in consideration that parking was free and you have a winner.

ROOM was VERY clean and really cozy and the view from both the front and back were nice as well. The microwave and mini frig came in very handy as well as in room coffee. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were fresh and clean. Bathroom was spotless!

LOCATION was amazing, it is in walking distance of several restaurants, a Walgreens and a Publix.

ATMOSPHERE was great - there was always music playing and there were just people around having a good time. It was nice and quaint and cozy and everyone was friendly.

For the money I am used to staying in a four star hotel but this was really fun and relaxing and I would visit the resort again.

While I usually indulge in room service there were several restaurants that delivered. I chose GiGi's and the food was delivered fast and it was good and hot. I found most of the places to be very reasonable priced with a fair delivery minimum.

Again, I would and probably will return in the future!

Visiting family members we decided to spend the night at the Bilmar. The building is very old but we were pleasantly surprised how nice the room was. Very clean and a great view of the gulf. We used the pool by Sloppy Joe's after we checked in and that pool needs some serious work. Their are chunks of concrete missing from the bottom of the pool and lots of hair floating around. The next day we used the other pool and it was VERY nice. A lot cleaner and a nice sunny location. They charge you a $15.00 resort fee and this enables you to rent a kayak or paddle board however after waiting 40 minutes nobody showed up for us to get the paddle board. I voiced my opinion at the front desk however their explanation was the outfit that rents them out is not employed by them. Lame excuse cause I still was out the $15.00. Would not return.......

Room Tip: We were on the third floor by the elevator and it was very quiet.

The Bilmar Beach Resort is an institution on Treasure Island, having been there as long as anyone can remember. The exterior has a 70's vibe that continues into the lobby and, yes, right into the rooms. We had a beachfront, first floor room with a full kitchen. Be warned, however, that the beach is extremely wide so you still have a trek to the water. The furnishings were nice and the tile floors were clean as were the bathroom and kitchen.

As someone said earlier, the people at the front desk are as warm as the beach itself. Our early check-in was handled by a delightful woman with a handful of coupons for free drinks, discounted food, free kayak rentals and beach chairs. This set the mood for our entire visit. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful in every way. We also had no problem arranging for a late checkout to give us more time to enjoy drinks at the inviting Sloppy Joe's bar and the wide uncrowded beach. The Bilmar is nothing fancy, but a great value and a great place to relax. Very family-friendly too.

We were in Treasure Island visiting with friends. We stayed 2 nights. The front desk check in was a great experience. We got to check in about 2 pm, 2 hours earlier than expected with no hesitation. The woman was wonderfully pleasant.
The room was beautiful. It was spotless and the view of the beach was incredible. The beds were very comfortable too.
If we go back to Treasure Island, we'd definitely stay at the Bilmar again! Thanks so much to the staff!

The room was clean and comfortable. It was nice to have the kitchenette. The bathroom was tiny, but in great condition. The hotel is right on the beach with a great view!!! The common areas of the hotel were kept very clean. A housekeeping or maintenance person was always around picking up or sweeping.

However, we will probably look for a hotel further from the strip next time. Its a very busy area and the onsite restaurants are open to the public. Good spot though if you don't want to be far from the action.

The hotel elevators are also easily accessible to people passing through to the restaurants or beach. Didn't really feel safe. The parking lot was a real challenge too. If you find a spot, its best to leave your car at the hotel and walk to restaurants.

Room Tip: Couples should choose an upper floor in the Tower. We had an end unit and it was very insulated from...
