“Worth a Visit”

Sea Chest Motel

My husband and I stayed at The Sea Chest in June for our anniversary. We had been there once before and were happy to find it as clean and charming as the first visit. The only negative I can comment on is the tight parking.
The location is great, the view from our room was perfect.
The pool area was clean. The owners and staff were all very friendly. There were a couple of families staying there that obviously made it an annual trip. They were having such a great time BBQing, and hanging out by the pool area. It's nice that small family run motels are still on the beach and have kept customers coming back year after year. As other reviews have said, don't be fooled by what you see from the street. The Sea Chest is a great place to stay. I hope they stick around for a while, especially with all the overbuilding occuring around them.

My family and I stayed at the Sea Chest for a week in Aug and it was very peaceful and quiet, great if thats what you are looking for!! After walking up and down the boardwalk along the beach and seeing other motels/hotels I was very happy with our choice in The Sea Chest, there is no where else I would want to stay!
The pool and surrounding property are very well maintained and show pride of ownership. The room we had was the large apartment and it was very large, lots of room and very very clean!!!
The owners and staff were all very nice and welcoming. This is a wonderful small place to stay right on the beach, great for families, many who we met seem to have been coming here for years!
I would certainly return again and have already recommended the Sea Chest to others.

“Sea Chest Our Favorite on the Beach”

Sea Chest Motel

Great to see the Sea Chest is gathering in some nice reviews. We've stayed there a number of times over the past 10 years and always hold it extremely high in our memories. Hopefully we can return again after a 2 year absence to do other travels.

I'm a modern architecture fan and love sitting out at night and enjoying the clean lines and shadows of the Sea Chest. The impact of coming through the compressed entrance into the open and welcoming courtyard/pool area is like entering a Frank Lloyd Wright building. Clearly this structure is from the Sarasota School of Architecture and one I greatly appreciate.

If you can, get one of the units on the beach end of the Sea Chest. These are the roomiest and best, I think, of all the units.

Long live the Sea Chest!!

We loved this property! It's small, clean and a great place if you're going for a restful, quiet place to chill. Down side is the parking but there's nothing the owners can do but it's a small price to pay. There is a lot available across the street for spillovers. If you have kids you may want to try one of the larger hotels that provide young children and teenagers with activities but we like the fact that the Sea Chest was just a lovely place to celebrate life.

AAA Approved. The Sea Chest is not perfect, but it is close. And to prove that this is not one of those "Fake Positive Reviews" that you see so often on the internet, I will list the two negatives about the motel first. But please stick around for the positives because they are many (as per my 5 star review)

Drawbacks.

1. The parking is pretty bad. That's not to say that you won't be provided parking, but it will take a patient driver and a keen eye to maneuver around the tight parking lot.

2. The sea-foam green trim. Seriously, Tampa Florida loves sea-foam green, and the exterior of the Sea Chest is no different. But it does not continue into the absolutely adorable rooms.

I guarantee, however, that neither of these two drawbacks will take away from your stay. My wife and I simply loved the Sea Chest. The rooms are generously large, well laid out, and extremely clean. One little touch was addressed in our room that so many other motels miss; coffee filters for the coffee maker. How many times have you gone on vacation and bought a package of 100 coffee filters for 7 days. No need here. They were already in the room. Whether a former guest left them or they were provided by management I'm not sure, but they were here when we arrived and I certainly appreciated the fine touch.

There is free Wireless internet so bring your laptop computer. Just ask management for the password. The unit was well lit. The bathroom was immaculatelyclean and large with a tub-shower instead of the usual Motel-Shower stall deal. As you can see on their website, the prices are extremely affordable.

The Sea Chest is right on the beach. There are independently run cabana tents and lounge chairs within 200 yards. A little pricey at $20/day, but well worth the money. And for those of you not interested in salt water, there is a nice heated pool as well.

The owner was absolutely wonderful to deal with. My wife loved and longed for the mom and pop feel from days gone. It's nice to know that a few still exist and are run so well as the Sea Chest.
