“great holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

We have just returned from a 3 week break in florida, half in disney and half to recover here!We booked with virgin but rang the hotel direct and upgraded to a 3 bedroomed suite which cost $100 a night plus tax but we have 4 kids so for us this was well worth it.I was a bit put off when we arrived at check-in,I guess after disney the reception seemed small so I was wondering what our rooms would be like,i told the kids `it`ll be smaller than disney ,don`t expect much`.Well, how wrong was I!!!Our room was on the top floor and the 3 bed suites are all at the front .We walked in and i was honestly gobsmacked by the size of it!The rooms overlooked the beach and as we arrived the sun was just going down,it was amazing and to get to watch this from our room was splendid. Our main room was huge with a massive bed, huge walkin closet, separate toilet and a whirlpoo; corner bath overlooking the beach.I had looked at the 2 bed pics on here and had expected something of that quality but this was WELL worth the upgrade,i will try and down load some pics.I guess we would have had the appartments at the side if we had stuck with the 2 bed.The kids loved the pool outside and the hot tub was very hot, thre is a little bar there and also a cafe but we didnt go there. There is a fitness room and internet room although the hotel does have wiifii.we had 3 flat screen tvs and another tv in the suite and had everything we needed in the very well stocked kitchen. The dishwasher was a bit rubbish but after the 2nd day, someone came and replaced it with a brand new one as they were upgrading them all.
We walked down to st johns pass most nights, turn left as you come out and its a short walk with restuarants and shops.
We had a great time and I would happily return here or recommend it to a friend

Room Tip: upgrade to a 3 bed if you can afford it,the suites are huge and the view is AMAZING.

Sunset Vistas is located perfectly on the beach but if this hotel was located anywhere else it would be described as a dirty roadside motel.

I had to complain to management to get my room cleaned after 8 days with no service. The cleaners do not clean the room - they merely dump fresh linen on the beds and do not clean the bathrooms or even vacuum. This would be not so bad if they provided you the tools to do it yourself but there is nothing!

The Internet is terrible - if there is more than two people using the net it fails.

There are hotels up and down the beach - if you want dirty motel then Sunset Vistas is the place for you. If you want hotel service and no worries try one of the other places along the beach!!

We appreciate every review, but feel this is quite misleading. We are a new six story beachfront resort, nothing close to a motel. We regret that this guest encountered this issue for the first week of an extended group stay and became frustrated. We are contracted with this group to supply a full cleaning after the 7th night of one’s stay and not enter/service any of the units on Monday or Tuesday. Regarding the lack of evident cleaning it resulted from personal items on beds, etc. that a housekeeper uses their discretion not to remove. We have clarified this with the group leader and our housekeeping staff will contact a manager to communicate this to the guest.
Our internet service provider has determined that numerous guests from your group were attempting to hack into our system and their access has now been de-activated. We have also have had numerous people p2p file sharing, which slows down the system tremendously. This issue has arisen when many group guests are utilizing internet at the same time. We have worked with the travel coordinator to reduce any file sharing and streaming of video that uses up a tremendous amount of bandwidth. This is not a common issue but an unusual circumstance with one specific group

We were attending a charity affair in the area and rooms reservations were tight. The ONLY room available at Sunset Vistas was the three bedroom penthouse suite, at a discounted price of $378 per night, tax included (during early November). I have never been so disappointed, and never felt so taken advantage of by a hotel.

The finish-out and furnishing was essentially "bottom-shelf Home Depot". Shag carpets in a beach front hotel???? Sink and tub/shower fixtures that were fairly corroded, and water pressure (6th floor) that made it challenging to take a shower. Which was just as well, because none of the shower/tub drains flowed very well - so two or three minutes into a shower, and you were standing in about 4 inches of dirty soapy shower water, that then took 30+ minutes to drain.

Towels were paper thin and many were frayed on the edges. No toilet paper in one bathroom, and no spare rolls anywhere in the suite.

This hotel does sit on a fairly nice beach, and the staff and social environment at their beachfront bar was very nice. But given the Ritz Carlton about 3 miles south in Sarasota with rooms at about half the price, I really felt ripped off at this hotel.

Room Tip: Go somewhere built or remodeled more recently.

As mentioned, the area was full and our only available room was the three- bedroom, top floor penthouse suite, which is 1700 square feet. The furniture is only three months old. We compare rates and this was very reasonable. The Ritz-Carlton is over 50 miles south and their rates start at $509 for a 425 square foot bedroom, not near a beach. This suite’s carpeting is a popular “Freise” style, commonly used by today’s designers. We regret that the décor did not meet this guest’s tastes.
We are truly sorry about the supply oversight. We can immediately correct a slow drain when reported to us and deliver additional supplies. We will also inspect and replace any unacceptable fixtures.
We encourage anyone to “preview” our suites upon arrival to confirm their expectation and value.

Overall this is a nice place, suited our needs. Stayed here as part of wedding party guests, reserved by Bride. Suites were clean, spacious enough and bright. Kitchen decor was nice, updated, well equipped, everything we needed was there. Dishwasher, coffee maker, dishes, glasses, utensils, pans, washer and dryer. Our suite had 2 bathrooms, one had a very nice large walk-in shower (no tub) which I really liked. Both bathrooms had a nice updated decor. Beds were very comfortable. Furniture throughout was a little tired looking. We did not have any need for maid service. Pool area and hot tub were nice, however closes right at 10pm-security will ask you to leave. Beach area was nice. Tiki bar drinks were expensive, $7.25 for vodka/soda water. Close to John's Pass and many other restaurants, bars, shopping, and convenience stores. Easy check-in/out process.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 201 N. This was a corner unit towards the front of condos. Not a good view of the oce...

We stayed over fall break in October 2012. We were supposed to have an ocean view room and got there and had a side room where we could barely see the ocean, but the staff was more than helpful in changing our room. The beach was great and not too crowded. The rooms were a little smaller than we are used to in a condo, but it was fine. Overall it was a great place and if we were to go back to Treasure Island, we would probably stay there again.

Rooms were spacious, clean and amazing. Staff and amenities were awesome. View and sunsets made it a spectacular stay! My daughter will always remember her 18th birthday! Will return again and recommend to all family and friends!

Room Tip: I feel any room in this hotel whether full view or partial will exceed any expectations!

We had 2 couples and stayed in a 2BD/2BA Gulf facing suite with excellent view. The room was great for the price, clean and had everything we needed, beds were comfortable and balcony was nice. Kitchen had all appliances and utensils needed to making food - coffee pot, toaster, blender, dishwasher etc. Plates, glasses and silverware all included in room. Outside the rooms was not as nice (elevator had bad smell and outside of building was a little dingy) - however the pool and hot tub area was very nice. Only bad experience we had at this facility was with the nightly security guard who has a peg for one of his legs. He was very rude and takes his job way too seriously. Pool closes at 10pm nightly, which is too early in my opinion, and security guard is very strict in locking up so you cannot access. Pool area should be open until at least 11pm - and adults should be able to access even later than that if quiet - especially to just sit in the hot tub. He should not be allowed to speak to the guests the way he does. Beach access at this time of year is open until 1am - Peg guards that as well. The kids working the front desk at night were extrememly nice and the woman who checked us out was very pleasant. In a good location - John's Pass is a 2 minute drive and Clearwater Beach is about 30 minute drive. There is a Circle K convenience store across the street and a Publix supermarket about a mile away. Overall it was a good vacation at an excellent price.
