First off, to call this place a resort is not really accurate. It is a place where people own individual condos. When we checked in at 4pm on Saturday, there was no one there to check us in. It was easy to get the keys and find the room. The parking is numbered according to the room you are in. Just so happened that I had someone in my spot and with the way the rules read about having your car towed, I was hesitant to park in the guest spot. The room was nice and decorated pleasantly.

The view was nice, but please note, it is about 500 yards to get to the water. It is a hike if you have little ones. So if you have a wagon, bring it!! The walk is in sand the whole way.

If you were thinking about grilling. Don't! The only grill was next door, (a good hike) at the public beach. The grill was about to fall over and needed a good detox!!

Our stay was average and most likely would not stay here again with the price. It would have been nice to have a staff on site for normal business hours and be in the office when they say they will be.

We spent five days at this property with two other adults and two small children. We had a great time. The property was only completed in December of 2005 so everything was bright and new. I do not think the stove had ever been used, and why would you want to with so many places to eat so conveniently located near the condo complex.

To be clear about what this property is...it is a building of condos. It is not a resort hotel. There was never any on-sight manager when we were there except on the morning that we left. If your neighbors become unruly, your only recourse would be to call the police, or perhaps the emergency contact number provided by the property managers. There are no hotel amenities...no room service, no extra towels, no ice machine or snack machine and no one to make a dinner reservation or give you directions.

The trade-off is that you have your own apartment complete with living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one with a only a shower), and best of all...a washer and dryer. You can pretend like you are actually living at the beach. Each condo has a great view of the gulf and the sunsets are spectacular. Try to create a schedule that permits you to take advantage of them from your own private balcony.

The condo is not large, but there is space for four people to comfortably watch TV in the living room, and there is a very nice television in the living room and a smaller TV in the master bedroom. The bedrooms are small, and we had difficulty finding space for the portable crib even in the master bedroom, but we made it work.

The water is some distance from the condo property, but surely not much more than a five minute walk. The beach is lovely, though not quite as nice as the sand in the Destin area of the Florida panhandle. There is a nice heated swimming pool and hot tub, and the public areas are carefully maintained. Someone cleaned the pool and wiped down all the pool furniture every morning of our visit.

When I go again I will take a few extra towels for use in the pool and at the beach. Otherwise everything you need is provided for you.

We had only one tiny complaint. Our feet were all black whenever we walked on the tiled floors, and clearly there is some kind of problem because the carpeted areas in the bedroom were also very soiled. The floor seemed clean to the touch, and every thing else was immaculate, but something made our feet very dirty. We just all used a wet wipe on the souls of our feet before going to bed.

Even though this property is not particularly convenient for many of the activities we do in Tampa (It took us nearly an hour to get to Busch Gardens), we will surely stay here again. It is rare to find beach accomodations this nice at such a great price!

I had read a previous review regarding the Surf Beach Resort and was hesitant at first about booking , however, I am so glad that we did. The staff are friendly, the condo's are nicely furnished, clean and all face onto the Treasure Island Beach (great views!). We stayed in a 2 bedroom condo, it had two bathrooms - 1 with a bath tub and the second had a nice shower. Rooms in general are small but adequate. Kitchen is very functional and each condo has washer/dryer with iron/ironing board (if you need it). Two tv's - one in the living area and another in one of the bedroom's. Parking is tight (1 allocated parking space per condo) but there is 1 visitor spot and a public (paid) parking located next door. Nice small restaurants, fast food, bars, Walgreens etc located in walking distance. The condo is located on the beach and has a very nice pool and hot tub facing upon the beach. The beach is very wide in this location, therefore, it is a 5 minute walk to the water across the white beaches (bring something that helps you cart your stuff to the water).

Great place, Great location, a Great time at Treasure Island!

“There is no Hotel in Surf Beach”

We loved Treasure Island and highly recommend it!!! We were a group of 4 adults and we stayed there for a 4 day trip. The condos are nice and have a great location, the view is spectacular!!!!! They are new and nicely decorated. The balconies are great for sunsets!

But, we did have some issues with the presentation of the Surf Beach as a hotel, there were NO Hotel amenities! I can live without the maid service and fresh towels everyday, but when we requested extra toilet paper we were told we were given enough to start off, then we were on our own. Had we known any of this up front, we may have stayed somewhere else. Also, upon check out, there is a whole laundry list (literally) of things that have to be done to the room, otherwise, you will incur a $69 clean up charge. Check out is at 10am. We would have expected this of a condo (and not had a problem with it), but not a place that advertises it is also a hotel.

In addition, the staff is extremely rude, the front desk was not friendly at all! When we asked about extra towels, we were told what there is in the room is what we get. When I inquired if there was maid service, I was told no, if we wanted our towels washed to use the machines in the room.... there was no soap.....

Finally, one of our friends had on white socks in the condo and they were black by the end of the trip, I hope that person did not pay the $69 cleaning fee.

I just wanted to let you know what you were getting in to when you rent a condo here, other than that, we had a fabulous trip!!!!!

We stayed at the Surf Beach the first week of April 2006. We checked in to a somewhat dirty room. During the week we talked to many others that were also complaining about dirty rooms. Very dirty floors - our feet were black! All of the extra blankets had stains on them! Yuck! We also had no cable in the bedroom - my husband notified the front desk, the Sunsational Management Co. who owns the Surf Beach, told housekeeping(who was cleaning a room next door) and no one called us back! Everyone assured us that someone would call us back and get it fixed, well, we ended up having to go to Walgreen's and buy cable and a splitter so we had tv for the week!

We also didn't realize that the room we checked into was a handicapped room - rooms 203 and 204 are handicapped. The bathrooms are very weird - no vanities - nowhere to put your stuff! We had to put our stuff on the back of the toilet! One bathroom didn't even have a mirror! We looked at a "regular" room and the bathrooms were "normal" with vanities - so anyhow, unless you really do need a handicapped room - make sure to request a regular room.

Obviously we were there during spring break week and there was a lot of families with teenagers and young children - we have 2 children ages 8 and 5 too - but the pool area was crazy with teenagers swimming and yelling until midnight - no parents in sight and no management to take control. The pool is right in front of the patio of your room - don't expect a quiet drink on your patio! This is a new condo and pool area, but the pool was only cleaned once while we were there and there were times when there were up to 35 kids in the pool and hot tub at one time!! Yuck again!!

You are right on the beach and boardwalk, but the ocean is a good 1/4 mile walk - it's far! There are some pluses though - there is city beach access next door with a small "junglegym" which our kids enjoyed. The Surf Beach is also close to John's Pass, maybe about a mile and McDonald's, Sloppy Joe's, Walgreen's and a Topp's Supermarket are all within walking distance. Don't get me wrong the rooms are very nice - all brand new everything - and it's in a nice area - but there just isn't any kind of security or control here.

I would definately go back to the Treasure Island area again - but would probably try a different condo - I don't want to discourage anyone from going to the Surf Beach - maybe during a slower time it would be different - but I guess if they changed some things there... All they really need is a manager - someone to close the pool and to keep some kind of control.

Over all our stay was nice - just don't expect any help from management - this place is called the Surf Beach Resort Condo/Hotel - well it's certainly not a resort and it's not a hotel because there is NO service or front desk after 3:00PM - at this place you are pretty much on your own.
