We stayed from the week of Memorial Day. When we first got there, the Saturday before Memorial Day...wow was the city/beach alive with people and activity. After Memorial Day, it was quite calm. On the beach directly in front of the resort (after Mem Day), it averaged about 20 people in the afternoon with plenty of room for more. I disagree 100% with previous negative Memorial Day reviewer. One day I walked up and down the beach sidewalk for about 1.5 miles, and I would rate Surf Beach Resort in the top 3 for its appearance, size of pool, and updated look. Many resorts around it didn't have a pool and looked quite rundown and had dark colors. My family of 4 (2 adults, 6 year old and 2 year old) loved the resort and area. This was our 2nd FL vacation, but first actually on the beach. Wow we'd do it again in a heartbeat. Here's a list of the various things available to you at the resort and nearby: 200 yards of waterfront sand between your 2 bedroom room and the Treasure Island beach, very nice pool that would probably comfortably hold about 15 people, whirlpool that would hold about 5-8 people, tastefully decorated rooms with nice furniture and comfortable beds, clean rooms and resort, a few minutes drive from St. Johns Pass (a boardwalk with fun shops and restaurants and activities to do on the ocean), and 2 hour drive from Universal Studios, Sea World and Disney World. Now if you are looking to be just entertained at your resort, there isn't much for you if you don't want to just relax by the pool or the ocean. Within a few miles you can find activities at St. John's Pass--- jet skis, Dolphin cruises, kayaks, ocean fishing, etc. We actually saw 2 dolphins come within 100 feet of us on the beach by our resort!!! We would definitely come back again. The staff could be a little more upbeat, but I was contented with their service. You cannot beat the sunsets here!!! Sure 2 sinks in the bathroom would have been nice, but not a deal breaker for me.
