“Disappointed!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

On vacation and wanted to visit John's Pass. Gators is well known for always having sip merging going on...well, on Sunday evening it was a ghost town. No live music, nothing going on. We had to wander around to find a hostess rolling silverware to tell us to "sit anywhere". We sat on the lower deck and it took forever for anyone to come over and get our drink order, then a long time for our meal. They must have sent the kitchen staff home because it was so slow. My husband got the tuna sandwich and me the portobello wrap which were both really good.

Our server was nice, just acted like he was tired and ready to go home. Disappointed and don't know if we would go back.

“Great for view and fun”

Always something going on here. Good food but great view of the inlet and boat activity. I like the wings!

“Great place to drink, not so for the food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

This is a really good place for drinking, sight seeing if you're a tourist or a local. The food is average and good if you're drinking.

Parking is pretty good for this area. The lots are decent sizes...again, for this area. It's right on the water and if you're into watching boats go by it's a good place. There is a draw bridge right outside so there's some "action". The place has two levels, pool and darts, plenty of live music every day and a couple of small bathrooms.

“Could be great but they don't try hard enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We stayed at Treasure Island for a week so we tried lots of different places to eat. We had to try Gator's just because it looks like a great beach bar. This place is huge, with upstairs, downstairs, inside, outside, pool room, water view, etc.The restrooms are oddly located, with one actually located outside the front door where you enter. The other is upstairs tucked back in a corner somewhere. We went in the evening after the Hubbard's Beer and Wine Sunset Cruise. They had the "Dueling Pianos" on Thursday night. The musicians were mediocre but knew lots of songs, and were fun. They happened to have the $12.95 whole Maine Lobster special that comes with a side so how could you pass that up? The waitress said it would take 15 minutes so we ordered the lobster with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, and we also got the "whole pound of wings". The wings and the lobster arrived at the same time about 15 minutes later. The lobster looked great, split in half served with drawn butter. How you could you ruin a Maine Lobster? It was way overcooked and tough. The wings probably were done well ahead of the lobster and arrived lukewarm. They tasted pretty good but you could tell they were done and left sitting around for the lobster to be finished. The best thing about the meal was the side of mashed potatoes and gravy. That was excellent. This place has great potential having that laid back beach bar look and feel, many specials and live entertainment, but they need to try harder to get hot, fresh food served. They have a very good menu. The staff just doesn't seem to understand the importance of serving food fresh and hot from the kitchen and cooked properly.
