Our stay at the Trails End, was well how can I put it...just okay. There was one great part of the stay though. The maid who took care of us during the duration of the stay was exceptional. She cleaned the room thoroughly, serviced us with a smile, always was very helpful, and she was even kind to my children, which was great. We stayed in an upstairs gulfront room, which had a beautiful view, but the room needs significant updating. If it had not been for the service of our maid, I don't believe the stay would have been as pleasant. Hopefully the management realize what a great employee they have, and keep her around for a while. Other guests also complimented on her kindness.

We stayed at the Trail’s End in May 2007, after arriving in Treasure Island with no reservations. This place looked nice from the outside so we took the plunge and stayed one night.

The hotel has some really funky 1950’s architectural details all over
it, so it looks kind of retro and fun. The center courtyard is dominated by the pool and the lovely gardens which, when we were there, were looking very lush and green. The pool itself was great and all the children in it looked to be having fun.

We had a room that faced the pool and bizarrely it also had a back door that faced the parking area. It was useful but I’ve never come across anything like this so it must be a 50’s thing. I guess that if the back door had been in the bathroom it would have been more useful.

The room we had did feel a bit worn – there was mold on the corners of the carpet, the bathroom fittings are faded and tired and the kitchen area was definitely NOT one I would use. But as we didn’t get the room expecting a kitchen, it was fine but be warned if you’re
planning to cook there: the appliances are rusty and dirty and it isn’t well stocked with plates and the like.

The location is pretty good as it’s on the beach (but a short walk away across a sidewalk and a long stretch of beach) and near the shops and restaurants of St Johns’ Pass. It is probably too quiet for
those that like late nights but ideal for those of us that have small children.

All in all we did quite like it – but we’d like it more if the rooms were refurbished. The funky hotel architecture was my big favourite here!

We recently visited the Treasure Island. We arrived around midnight, on a Saturday night with no reservations. We found the Trail's End.
We did stay in one of the gulffront rooms. No patio or balcony but a beautiful panaramic view from the huge windows more than made up for it.
The furnishings were new and beautiful rattan. The sofabed had a new mattress. The kingsize bed was very comfortable. We did rearrange the table, so we could watch tv. The kitchen was small but had plenty of dishes, pots and pans. (even wine glasses) There was a large closet area. The backdoor was located in the bathroom, great for changing clothes after enjoying the beautiful white sandy beach.
We were there the week after laborday weekend. We had lots of privacy. the staff was helpful when needed, even getting us an extension cord so my daughter could play a dvd in the closet area.
The town area didn't offer much family fun after dark. but the pool was great. The gardens were beautiful, palm trees everywhere. postcard perfect.
The other guest were friendly, but we really had the pool and beach to ourselves most of the time.
I did feel it was a tad overpriced for the season. However i would visit them again if I'm ever in the area.

“Needs Some Work”

The Motel needs alot of updating and a good cleaning. I don't mind a place that looks it age, but it was unclean. There was a dead bug in the lighting panels in the bathroom. Old spagetthi sauce on the walls. Not near enogh pans, dishes or cup for the kitchenette. Thank God the Arvilla Motel next door had an opening.
The pool was very murky. I think at one time the place was really cool, but it needs help now!!!

“Only the newer gulf front units are worth a trip”

Trails End Resort Motel

We stayed there for 4 days. Unfortunatly we had a room directly to the street.
The room itself was sticky, dirty and has to be urgently renovated, thats what we told the desk clerk. She said, it may be renovated in the future.
The kitchen was not fully equipped. A lot of dishes, cups, pots.... were missing.
So you can't cook anything, except for spaghetti or pizza in the oven (if you don't mind the dirt).
I am really not that perfect myself in house-cleaning, but if you visit Trails end, you should be aware that this is really so dirty, that (after showering) stepping over the carpet leaves your feet black. Use shoes, all time. The wall paper is also lose. And the sofa bed is not good to sleep on, its at least 20 years old. All furniture was more than only used...
Only the new renovated gulf front apartments are delightful. I had a view into one.
If you stay in this apartment, you are a lucky person. The beach is great, anyway.
You are directly on white sand beach, near to Johns pass village, so the environment is great.
Pool area was also nice and the garden was gorgious.
But remember: when booking, ask for the newer renovated gulf front rooms, then your stay can be perfect!
