This is the truth, like it or not.
We stayed at Trail's End for a weekend
and we had towels with holes in them, had to ask for
more than just one for the two of us!!
One small bar of soap, one small shampoo.
Toaster was broken and we never got another.
The kitchen was filthy.
It smelled of mold and the wallpaper is peeling.
I tried to contact the owner, whom the girl at the front desk told me was one Stuart Shriver?
He never would call us back.
We finally called our credit card company and demanded to be compensated.
My advice...GO somewhere else in the area.
There are much newer and lower prices.
We will NEVER make this mistake again!
It sounds as if in " its day" it was a great place.
Not anymore.
The outside is clean but once you step in the rooms, it is a TOTALLY different story.
The owner should invest in the interior and bring old customers back again...
We are getting VERY dissapointed.
Oh yeah, one of the " housekeepers"
confessed to us that she knew a few better places to stay
and that she was leaving the place as she could not clean up the whole place alone???
Concerned in Treasure Island
It looks cute and quaint in the picture. And, yes, on the outside it's got a lot of atmosphere. But, upon entering my room, I almost started crying.
No coffeemaker, no microwave, no fridge, an ice bucket with no lid, no cups, not even a clock, pillows that gave me a neckache the entire time. Mattress from hell. Curtains literally falling apart.
A complete flea-bitten nightmare.
The place is so depressing, it will ruin your entire trip.
Our stay at the Trails End, was well how can I put it...just okay. There was one great part of the stay though. The maid who took care of us during the duration of the stay was exceptional. She cleaned the room thoroughly, serviced us with a smile, always was very helpful, and she was even kind to my children, which was great. We stayed in an upstairs gulfront room, which had a beautiful view, but the room needs significant updating. If it had not been for the service of our maid, I don't believe the stay would have been as pleasant. Hopefully the management realize what a great employee they have, and keep her around for a while. Other guests also complimented on her kindness.
We stayed at the Trail’s End in May 2007, after arriving in Treasure Island with no reservations. This place looked nice from the outside so we took the plunge and stayed one night.
The hotel has some really funky 1950’s architectural details all over
it, so it looks kind of retro and fun. The center courtyard is dominated by the pool and the lovely gardens which, when we were there, were looking very lush and green. The pool itself was great and all the children in it looked to be having fun.
We had a room that faced the pool and bizarrely it also had a back door that faced the parking area. It was useful but I’ve never come across anything like this so it must be a 50’s thing. I guess that if the back door had been in the bathroom it would have been more useful.
The room we had did feel a bit worn – there was mold on the corners of the carpet, the bathroom fittings are faded and tired and the kitchen area was definitely NOT one I would use. But as we didn’t get the room expecting a kitchen, it was fine but be warned if you’re
planning to cook there: the appliances are rusty and dirty and it isn’t well stocked with plates and the like.
The location is pretty good as it’s on the beach (but a short walk away across a sidewalk and a long stretch of beach) and near the shops and restaurants of St Johns’ Pass. It is probably too quiet for
those that like late nights but ideal for those of us that have small children.
All in all we did quite like it – but we’d like it more if the rooms were refurbished. The funky hotel architecture was my big favourite here!
