I have stayed at South Beach many times and it always gets a 5 star rating. On previous reviews, I have raved about the property (which is awesome). On this review, I will help all of you wondering about nearby restaurants. There are many restaurants within 1 mile of the property that I will tell you about. Middle Grounds (which I consider "almost" high end) is about a 2 minute walk. It has amazing sea food and if you want a bargain, go to their early bird special and get a great meal for $12. Bazzie's, located at the Bilmar (the big yellow hotel south of South Beach), has decent bar food and is located right off of the beach. You can walk from South Beach on the beach walk to get there...probably a 4 or 5 minute walk. Foxy's is an old stand by that never disappoints. It is located on 107th Ave near the clock tower. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all good there, as are the prices. Island Bob's Deli (a new place) is a gem. It is located right off of 107th and Gulf blvd (across from the Bilmar). My husband and I have eaten there countless times and are amazed at the great food and the low prices. A typical lunch for us is under $10 total. We split a 12 inch sub (which is HUGE) and each get chips and a soda. You can't beat it! Ricky T's (also across from the Bilmar) is a fun place to have a drink and eat some great food. Their breakfast is the best on the beach. If you are there for lunch or dinner, order a side of macaroni and cheese.....yummy! On the backside of Island Bobs is a strip mall with a clock tower over the street. In that mall there is the Clock Tower Bar. They have great food and offer $3.95 specials daily. I recommend you get a table outside on their deck (that sits in the parking lot). A couple of doors down from the Clock Tower Bar is a place called The Cigar Republic which is my husband"s favorite spot to stop and have a beer and a cigar. You will not find a friendlier place in town. They don't have food but they allow food to be brought in. Almost next door to the CR is a restaurant called Pearl. It is borderline high end. They have the best deal in town with their early bird specials (must be seated by 5:45). They offer small plates of four or five of their menu item for $10. You will get a soup or salad with that, along with bread. The food is to die for. I was there last week and they had a filet mignon special ($12) that couldn't have been better. Even though they are considered "small plates", you will fill up just fine. Don't wait until your last night to eat there because you will be mad not to have dined there at least a couple of times during your visit. Ask the front desk about how to get to the R Bar if you want a killer burger. It is an easy walk but on a side street. Have fun!
Room Tip: Close your blinds while you are gone during the day so the place doesn't heat up.
