This was my second trip to Treasure Island. The first time I stayed at Sunset Vista. My husband and I stayed at Crystal Palms in mid February. When i booked it, I read that in order to get a view you need to be on the higher floors, so when we arrived I asked for a room on the 5th floor. I was told there were none available and they didn't know if any would come available but I could check back tomorrow. We were already settled so I didnt bother, although throughout the rest of our stay i saw a number of vacant rooms. The room they had for us on the third floor was not ready and they could give us one on the second floor or wait a few hours. After looking at the room and seeing that there really wasnt much of a view on the third floor either, we opted to take the one on the second floor. If a view is what you are looking for, this is probably not the hotel for you unless you can get a room on the fifth floor. The gentleman at the front desk said the 2nd floor was a corner unit so we would have a larger balcony. That was the case, however there was no additional furniture on the balcony so I dont think this really makes a difference. There are 2 chairs, a table and a lounge chair. I could see this amount being a problem if you have 4 people staying in the suite. It was also very loud when you were on the balcony as it faces a very busy street, but inside the room was very quiet. The room overall was very modern, spacious and clean. There was a spot on the sofa but it looked like the color was removed from cleaning it. Some of the reviews mentioned worn out carpet, but this was not the case in our room. The beach is accross the street but was not a problem as it is was a short walk for us, however if we had brought our 2 children with us, it might not be ideal. You have to rent chairs and umbrella's from a private vendor if you want them. Parking was easy, they had assigned spots for each room. The pool area was very clean and the pool was heated so that was warm. The fitness center is also not on the property. We thought that it was located on the property but found out that you need to go to another hotel. The location is close to John's pass, publix and plenty of restaurants. We walked to John's pass, its about a 15 minute walk and very easy. The staff we encountered were also very nice. All in all, this was a very nice place and I would consider staying here again, however after staying here and Sunset Vista's, I would probably choose Sunset Vistas. The suites are pretty much on par with each other, but Sunset Vista is directly on the beach, much quieter as far as traffic noise, has a fitness room and business center, and little outside bar/restaurant.
