Owner description: As a part of the FKWBC, the Laura Quinn Wild Bird Sanctuary is home to over one hundred non-releasable, permanent bird residents as well as wild birds including hawks, owls, vultures, pelicans, terns, gulls, herons, spoonbills, and many more. Visitors are invited to learn about our birds and the fragile ecosystems of the Florida Keys. The Sanctuary is open to the public from sun-rise to sun-set. Admission is free, but donations to help the FKWBC to continue to fulfill our mission are gladly accepted. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native and migratory wild birds that have been harmed or displaced, to provide or locate a humane shelter for those birds that cannot be released, and to educate the public toward the importance of coexistence with all wild bird species. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is a 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization.

“Big Birds up Close”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

Wow - you don't normally get to see owls, hawks, and other birds so close. It's doesn't talk long to go around the boardwalk and see the bird habitats, but it's worth a visit.

“A very worthy cause”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

We discovered this place while visiting the Keys and decided to check it out. The work that these volunteers are doing, helping to rehabilitate and take care of birds who cannot be rehabilitated, is incredible. If you have a chance to visit this sanctuary, make sure you bring some cash to donate for this nonprofit.

“Got so close to nature..loved it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

There were 8 of us that stopped at the Wild Bird Center to see what it was all about. We were pleasantly surprised!
We saw pelicans that walked all around us..very domestic! We saw different species of owls and several species of native birds. The neat part is that you can take all the time you want...you walk around and you are on your own to spend as much or as little time looking and learning about each species.
We paid a "donation" to get in. It is well worth it and the kids as well the adults will love it!

“Great for seeing birds up close”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

We did this on the spur of the moment, and found it great. Not only for the raptors but the wild birds standing on the pathways.
