Owner description: As a part of the FKWBC, the Laura Quinn Wild Bird Sanctuary is home to over one hundred non-releasable, permanent bird residents as well as wild birds including hawks, owls, vultures, pelicans, terns, gulls, herons, spoonbills, and many more. Visitors are invited to learn about our birds and the fragile ecosystems of the Florida Keys. The Sanctuary is open to the public from sun-rise to sun-set. Admission is free, but donations to help the FKWBC to continue to fulfill our mission are gladly accepted. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native and migratory wild birds that have been harmed or displaced, to provide or locate a humane shelter for those birds that cannot be released, and to educate the public toward the importance of coexistence with all wild bird species. The Florida Keys Wild Bird Center is a 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization.

“Great Place to Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The weather wasn't great so we decided to visit the bird center on a whim. We weren't disappointed! The birds are well cared for and obviously loved. Visitors walk through the property on wooden walkways past the cages which identify the birds and tell the stories about the residents. It was a surprise and a treat to see the Florida panther and his friend the lab as well!

“A great stop”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Worth a visit, take a picnic and spend the day there. Unfortunately due to the hurricane water was very high so we did not get to do the walks they have on offer.

Low key visiting to a bird rehab center that is doing great work. Good boardwalks and some interesting specimens.

“Many birds, and many hungry pelicans”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

This is a beautiful place to take your children and give them the opportunity to engage with birds, to talk about the admirable job and labor of these npeople who take care of many of these native and exotic birds. Many of them are resident and a small donation will help to make a difference
