My husband and I like to take day trips on the weekends or just get out of town on a Friday night. One night we ventured to the Tarpon Springs area (I'd never been). We had the GPS with us and so we looked through it's list of local restaurants. We found Rusty Bellies and decided to give it a go. We arrived late on a Saturday evening and in the middle of "dinner rush". The hostess said it would be 30 to 40 minutes & we asked to sit outside. 19 minutes later, we were seated at our quaint little table outside on their patio/deck area. Not the best view of the sunset but still very beautiful. The server brought us the BEST hush puppies EVERY (better than great-grandmother's!!). We placed our drink orders and then ordered our meals when she returned. My husband, the non-seafood eater, had a burger-he said it was wonderful and that he'd order it again. I had the Little Jacqueline with blackened flounder on top-oh my GOODNESS, it was THE most amazing past dish-the sauce was perfect, the artichokes were so fresh, the cheese baked on the side of the dish made a really nice "frico" (cheese crisp), and the flounder was fall-apart fantastic!
We've been back 3 times since then and the service and food have met the same great standard each time!! I think we only had one mishap with an illusive order of garlic bread (but it was totally fine and the server took it off our bill & gave us 4 hush puppies for the road to make up for it).
Our hats off to management, cooks, and servers! This is a drive we will make again and again-even if only for the hush puppies :)
THANKS!
