My husband and I like to take day trips on the weekends or just get out of town on a Friday night. One night we ventured to the Tarpon Springs area (I'd never been). We had the GPS with us and so we looked through it's list of local restaurants. We found Rusty Bellies and decided to give it a go. We arrived late on a Saturday evening and in the middle of "dinner rush". The hostess said it would be 30 to 40 minutes & we asked to sit outside. 19 minutes later, we were seated at our quaint little table outside on their patio/deck area. Not the best view of the sunset but still very beautiful. The server brought us the BEST hush puppies EVERY (better than great-grandmother's!!). We placed our drink orders and then ordered our meals when she returned. My husband, the non-seafood eater, had a burger-he said it was wonderful and that he'd order it again. I had the Little Jacqueline with blackened flounder on top-oh my GOODNESS, it was THE most amazing past dish-the sauce was perfect, the artichokes were so fresh, the cheese baked on the side of the dish made a really nice "frico" (cheese crisp), and the flounder was fall-apart fantastic!
We've been back 3 times since then and the service and food have met the same great standard each time!! I think we only had one mishap with an illusive order of garlic bread (but it was totally fine and the server took it off our bill & gave us 4 hush puppies for the road to make up for it).
Our hats off to management, cooks, and servers! This is a drive we will make again and again-even if only for the hush puppies :)
THANKS!
Amanda - Winter Springs, FL

My family stoped by to take me to lunch at Rusty Bellies during the week and it was a lot of fun. The butcher paper covered tables reminded me of crab parties in the back yard. The family had their bucket of crab special that was loaded with Stone,King crab and large Shrimp and I had their Grilled Seafood Platter we all had more than enough food and it was very fresh and tasty.

Friends who live in the area had heard of this restaurant and suggested we try it. We visited on a Saturday evening around 8PM and were able to get a table on the outside deck. While we checked out the menu, which was varied and extensive, we enjoyed the view of the sunset and the comfortably warm late June breeze. I and my friend had the The Rouge, while his wife had the AHI Tuna Special.
We all found the portions good sized (we each took home leftovers) and extremely well prepared. The price for dinner and a few drinks came to about $75 including tip, much less than I have spent at Chain Restaurants for similar meals. SInce I am planning on relocating to the area from Pennsylvania, and my wife LOVES seafood, I will definitely visit again.

palm harbor

having lived in palm harbor florida for 23 years i have yet to have had a great meal in this area. palm harbor is the next town going south from tarpon springs. tuesday june 23 was no exception. we hade friends visit us from ocala and based on the reviews we took them to rusty bellies for an early dinner. BIG MISTAKE. service was poor, PRICES WERE VERY HIGH for FRIED FISH, menu was limited to mostly FRIED FISH. any one can FRY FISH but a good chef can cook without frying. as some of the reviewers raved about the views again " i have seen better views looking at rain puddles". having lived at the JERSEY SHORE i know what good seafood taste like, and the view of the ATLANTIC OCEAN sure beats the view from rusty bellies.

Having spent the morning kayaking around Tarpon Springs with Simply Kayaking, we were ravenous at lunch time and needed good food fast!. True we did have to wait for a table but only a few minutes and it was well worth it. It's located right on the water's edge with geat views and lively, The food was good - great fish - it tasted fresh as it should be for a restaurant here. Kid friendly and family run. We really like it.
