“The staff was very accommodating, our event was a big success!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2010

Our group was very happy with our weekend conference. Many of our rooms were newly renovated - new beds, linens, tvs (not that we used them), updated bathrooms and new carpeting. Everything was very clean. The meeting halls were spacious with comfortable chairs and the lounge area was great for informal gatherings. For a busy location in downtown Tampa, it was very quiet for our meditation conference. The service was excellent. The staff was so accommodating - they went out of their way to make our event a great success!

Ive stayed in many hotels and i never had a hotel place a 30 dollar per night on hold. Beware of this and before you book ask how much, in addition, for the room will be coming out of your credit card. I stayed 2 nights, booked it for 92 dollars....I checked my account and they took out 156 dollars from my account. I called them to ask about the extra charge and they said that they placed an additional 61 dollars as a deposit and I should see it in my account in 7 to 14 days! So if you are staying 7 nights expect to have an additional 210 dollars charged on your card.

Rooms large and clean - decor somewhat dated, bed uncomfortable. Room faced a very noisy street. Continental breakfast started way too late for early travel. Staff ok. Very disappointed to find restaurant/lounge were closed due to renovation. Were recommended to competition across the street or blocks away.

I agree with most recent reviews. In addition, they still had old TV's and most channels were iffy at best. It is close (driving) to International Plaza that has at least 16 places to eat. Some of the neighboring businesses have names that at first sight would seem like strip clubs. While the walls are solid concrete and quiet next door, the open hallways do increase the noise. The one thing I did notice to the good, my heating and air unit was not making the typical noises you get with a property this old. It appeared to be a newer model. Don't pay over $60 $70 for this place. The WIFI was very bad in my room, took forever to download anything. Room was clean, but old looking.

We stayed here for 1 night before flying back home after a cruise. The hotel was dirty and old. The hallways are outside so all the "shady" characters hanging around ( and there were a LOT of them) are right outside your window. The restaurant was closed down, the elevators didn't work and the airport shuttle doesn't run early in the morning. Sleep was impossible as the beds sink in the middle and people hang out on walkways drinking and yelling all night. We tried to complain to the front desk but they don't answer the phone and I didn't feel safe going to the front desk as the stairways are dark and all the shady looking people hanging around. I did complain as we checked out but was told "well that's how it is when the circus is in town" ARE YOU KIDDING?

I'll try not to be too unkind. The room is a classic airport hotel where 99% of the guests stay prior to or after their flight from Tampa airport. They are looking for a shuttle service and a decent night's sleep, The rates were good, the staff helpful but once you got past the lobby to the rooms you're in for a shock.

The rooms are more motel than hotel in that the corridors are outside. This may not be seem bad but the night we were staying, about 4 or 5 rooms on the 5th floor were having a beer and chips reunion and were up all hours of the night on the balcony.. In a sentence, as a father of a young family, I didn't feel 100% safe.

Whilst the bed linen was fresh, the room was almost falling apart in terms of its condition.

Where the Ramada scored well was the staff. In terms of supplying a crib, preparing the buffet breakfast and hotel shuttle they were brilliant. I couldn't help thinking that they had one hand tied behind their back in trying to defend the indefensible (in terms of room quality).

Come on Ramada, gee up your ideas. This hotel needs a complete make over before you put your name on the front door.

I booked a room here for two days through Hotwire (when traveling alone, I'm inclined to skip the fru frus and zero in on saving money). This place was listed as a two-star hotel in "Westshore-Tampa Airport and I paid under forty dollars a night, Frankly, I was prepared to buy a five dollar pillow from WalMart and sleep on top of the bed, but found instead a reasonably sized room with a fairly comfortable bed, clean crisp linens and towels and, most importantly in my book, a very clean bathroom, which appeared to be recently renovated. The front desk gal was happy and friendly and even offered to help me with a cell phone problem. With some imagination, you can come to appreciate the hotel's 1960's feel: dated, funky, yet kind of kitsch. In a movie you'd be arriving at this hotel driving a two-tone Chevy Belair The location is good if you are looking for convenience to Tampa and the airport. Bush gardens is pretty close, but If you're here for the beaches you can expect a half-hour drive or more, In all likelihood, this not the kind of hotel you'd hang around at if you're here with family, though I honestly never even looked for the pool and fitness facility; perhaps they're okay. There was not an operating restaurant on the premises when I stayed here, but there are plenty of places to eat within a mile or so; just avoid the national pizza chains, they serve their own local version of awful.
