“Nice to be close to the airport...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

Chose this due to proximity to airport for early flight. Didn't eat breakfast. I think it is tad overpriced for an average room. Our room was much bigger than many of the Choice Hotels we usually frequent that is true. It took me forever to find the room, numbering system a bit strange. It is really a motel, not a hotel rooms are outside. The internet was painfully slow. The updating I guess is newer carpet? the bathroom was for sure in need of updating. I liked that the sink was outside of the shower so 2 people can get ready. It was fairly clean, I think the bathrooms just need gutted... Bed was soft. Interaction with our check in person was so fast it was almost rude... Last name, clickty clickity. Here is your key, talked super fast and off she went maybe she had to pee.

We got to the hotel about 2 hours early to check in. We understood we were early and they offered to keep out luggage while we went shopping, they told us that the room wasnt ready. We took this as we were checked in. We were wrong. We came back an hour later only to find that they had given our room to the guy that was in front of us and the only thing available was a queen room (we reserved a king). We were both tired, so we said ok. We got to the room, and opened the door to a 1960's decorated room. The smell was well old. There was also a gecko in the room. I opened the door to see the housekeeper right outside to tell her to get it out of the room. She didnt speak english. She handed my husband a washcloth and bag and motioned to sweep it in the bag. It ended up somewhere on the floor. She then took a cleaning product and sprayed all around the room. I have asthma! I told her no but she continued because didnt understand. Never ever will I go to this "motel" again.

We selected this hotel due to the fact we had a Family Medical emergency and needed to be close to Tampa General Hospital. We were pleasantly surprised at the friendlyness of the staff from the front desk, housekeeping, to morning continental breakfast. Everyone was very friendly. Our initial stay was 5-7 days, which got extended to 11 days. Front desk staff was most accomodating when we on several occasions had keep extending our stay. The room was clean and met our expectations as were spent most of the time at the hospital and not at the hotel. We didn't know until several days after arriving that the hotel offered complimentary shuttle service to and from the hospital if we needed it. We drove down from Ohio, so we didn't need this service, but it was greatly appreciated and noted if we ever need to come again.
It was very nice to have the Hurricane Wings & Bar located in the hotel, as many nights we ended up there after long days at the hospital. The staff there was very friendly and fun there too.
There were many people of stayed at this hotel who were coming and going on cruises that were leaving from Tampa. We met a lot of great people and only wished our visit there was to go on a cruise too, however that wasn't the case. We will consider this hotel in the future if we do go on a cruise and it leaves out of Tampa, as the Ramada also provides airport transportation to and from Tampa Int'l. Airport.
I would recommend this hotel to Traveler's or people who find themselves in an emergency, such as we encountered.
The price was unbeatable and extremely reasonable.

Room Tip: When you arrive they do have other rooms to chose from. We are seasoned travelers and as long as th...

Not a new or perfect hotel, indeed need some renovation in what room matters, but staff was great, location WAS PERFECT love the Hurracaine Bar and Grill next to the lobby with live music some nights, love it, and i definitely will stay there again.

Room Tip: Room with street view is perfect, facing east side.

what a dump!
they claim remoldeled rooms...the only thing they have done was change the drapes! Seriously...oh! and a new shower curtain

Otherwise the place is a total dump!! the corridors and elevators are disgusting, the restaurant hurricane wings is bad beyond belief with no service, bad food and intolerable electronically voice enhanced music!

The internet is slowwwwwwwwwwwwww And the road noise keeps you awake.
Plus the pillows are so bad you cannot get comfortable!

Spend more money next time and stay at the Wyndam accross the street which ironically is part of the same chain of hotels.

Room Tip: spend more money

This hotel had reasonably good reviews on TA and we picked it because of the good location and price. We arrived late in Tampa & had to get on the highway early the next day and this hotel is conveniently located for both. The biggest problem was that the carpet was filthy. I had only been walking around in the room for a short time and found the bottom of my feet really dirty. Wore shoes the rest of the time, even after getting out of the shower. The bed was okay but not really comfortable. The breakfast was also okay but they didn't even have yogourt. The hotel is also conveniently located for the cruise ships and Westshore Mall and does have a shuttle. This is one of many hotels in Florida that have been there a long time but there was no reason for the room to be that dirty.....definitely wouldn't go back and can only call it average and wouldn't recommend to my friends!

We picked based on price and location and reviews seemed fine. We would not go back. The location was good, the breakfast was good, pool was clean and fine, staff, again, fine. The problem was the bed (extremely uncomfortable), the pillows (awful), blanket/sheets (there was no comforter or anything and what was there didnt cut it), the towels (so rough). We could hear the planes from the airport, and yes I know it is an airport hotel, but still it didnt help when we were already struggling with sleep due to uncomfortable bed etc. My husband and I enjoy our sleep, and even naps on vacation, so not being able to enjoy that for our 3 days here just made this place not an option for us...
