“Good hotel but cold pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

The room was nice, clean and well-appointed. The location was great. Close to the Airport, shopping and easy to get to from the highway. Parking was free and readily available. The pool was very cold. The staff seamed to make more than the normal amount of mistakes. Our room had 2 of three lamps with dead light bulbs and the maid took all of our towels one day however the front desk was quick to correct these mistakes.

Room Tip: Ask not to be in the tower. it is at the back and very high. so it can take a long time to get to...

As the Events Planner for my husband's Army Reunion, the Tampa Double Tree Airport-Westshore proved to be a great location. As we move around the country each year for our reunions, Tampa was the perfect host town for our 2012 reunion. There was plenty to do in the area and the hotel shuttle was very accommadating. The weather was great, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the plentiful breakfast buffet was enjoyed by each of our guest every morning as was the Sports Bar. The pool and courtyard area was great and provided a place for some of our group to gather throughout our stay. The front desk staff always had a smile and ready to help and answer questions. I worked with Annabel and Iris for our reunion planning and catering and they left no stone unturned. They were wonderful. Our catered meals were delicous and well presented. The chef even came into our banquet room after each meal to meet our group. The Catering setup staff...well, they were great too. This is a large hotel but it never felt crowded. The last day of our reunion, Hurricane Sandy was heading up the east coast and while it really didn't effect Tampa, several of our group were not able to leave due to airline connections. The hotel graciously accommodated their unexpected extended stay. Thank you DoubleTree.

Room Tip: The rooms that overlook the pool courtyard have a balcony and a great view. The Juniour Suites offe...

Stayed here as part of an airline crew. We were waiting quite a long time for the hotel shuttle and when he finally got there he wanted to wait for two more crews coming in which there was not room in the van for and we certainly did not want to sit there and wait at 12am until whenever they're planes came in. In the morning I was in need of tights. I called the gift shop and some old woman picked up. When I asked her if she had beige tights she responded "you mean stockings?! I don't know. We probably only have black." Could you check for me? "You'll have to come down and do that yourself!" Phone hangs up. I go down there and she is chatting on the phone with a friend. There is a family in there trying to ask a question. She rudely looks at them. They ask for gum. "That's not for your kids is it?! Cause no!"
I mean come on... You have an easy gift shop cashier job. Not that hard to be friendly or even decent. The maids were nice and welcoming but the other staff was just awful. My other crew member had someone in his room when he walked in. Thats scary. The rooms were clean and the hotel looked nice enough, but the cookie was probably the best part of the night.

I was the group coordinator for a 3 day event and from the moment I called the sales office to set it up, Heather French, the sales manager, was very attentive and catered to our every need for our group. I also had excellent service from front dest staff members, Maritza Santiago and Brenda Anderson. When it came to early check ins, handing gift bags to our guest upon check in and other needs, they took care of it without hesitation and always contacted me in my room to see if accommodations were satisfactory the 5 nights we were there.

I was so impressed with their service, I recommended the hotel a month later for another event that I was hired to be the project manager for. I ended up being there for 7 nights this time and again, these 3 women, Heather, Maritza and Brenda were all great and very attentive.

I highly recommend this hotel, especially for your group needs! I'll be back for sure!

This Doubletree is very near Raymond James - Home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and also near the Airport. The room that I had was clean (no mold) and spacious with a nice balcony overlooking the swimming area. The swimming area was spacious with friendly vegetation. I found the staff seemingly friendly, yet not that helpful. I received a free breakfast coupon and enjoyed a terrific made-to-order omelet. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen and the fresh fruit from Mangoes to strawberries with blueberries, cantaloupe and pineapple, wow!

Parking is easy and free and they do have valet. A parking garage or outside parking is available and right next door is Charleys Steakhouse - a short walk.

Check-out time is noon, not too bad in these days when it seems most hotels want you out by 11am.

Room Tip: Some of the hallways will have you turned-around and it's difficult to know if you're headed...
