“A pleasant surprise for a last-minute hotel change!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We went down to the Tampa area for Yankees spring training, which is right across from Raymond James stadium. The previous year we stayed at the Comfort Inn near the stadium, which is alright but nothing great. This year, when we checked into the Comfort Inn, we were disgusted and checked out immediately. We were scrambling for a hotel during a busy weekend (not only Yankees but Kenny Chesney was 2 minutes away!) and we were lucky enough to find the Marriott. Nice hotel, definitely some signs of wear but overall a decent stay. Loved the indoor/outdoor pool. Close to everything, Starbucks and Panera within walking distance and a huge mall 3 minutes away. Would definitely stay again!

We arrived at Midnight after flying in from Lisbon. The staff numbers were a little short at Midnight, but the exuberance of the staff that was on site was outstanding. The friendliness and continued interest carried over the next morning. We are not elite members in the Marriott system, yet feel the attention given us could not have been greater no matter what our Marriott status is. Next time we fly into/out of TPA we will be using this facility.

I recently stayed at the Tampa Marriott Westshore for the second time and was very happy to recognize a few people on staff that were there on my first visit. I have stayed at various hotels in various cities through the years and many have had an employee or two that really went above and beyond but at the Marriott Westshore, every employee exhibits more than just "doing their job". From the front desk to shuttle drivers to housekeeping, each employee I encountered was pleasant and always offering assistance and what several of us (as I was part of a group) noticed was that they all seemed to really enjoy being at work. I would recommend this hotel for anyone travelling, whether for business or pleasure.

This hotel needs a renovation. Plain and simple. They would greatly increase their census by doing so.

The lobby is large. The fitness room is adequate, but not fancy. The pool area is nice with a part of the pool extending indoors. There is a starbucks and a restaurant.

The staff are very friendly. Clearly that is a current goal of theirs and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. The concierge lounge personnel are very friendly and helpful.

The concierge lounge is not fancy, but adequate. It has a computer workstation and seating. At busy times, it is difficult to find seating to eat.

My king room was not very big. The TV had HD channels. The bed was comfortable. There is no safe. There is no fridge. The bathroom is small. There are no USB ports at the desk.

The hotel shows it age. The elevators are slow. The hallways and rooms have a dated look to them. It is time for a renovation.

We stayed here before a cruise in February and I was expecting a little bit newer hotel because it is a Marriott. I was surprised at its age. It was not terrible by any means, just not new. I think sometimes we get hung up on NEW. It was clean and everything was very nice. We were picked up at the airport with in minutes of calling for our ride. We were offered bottle water. We got to the hotel at 11:40pm and asked about dinner, the lounge was open until 12:00 so we hurried in to order. The food was wonderful. The next morning the power went out in a large area, but you could only tell by a few things. The elevators still worked and many lights with the back up generators. I even used my hair dryer not knowing that the power was out. The pool is amazing also. All of the staff was amazing. Everyone was very polite and helpful.

I agree with many of the others that the hotel is showing its age. Hairdryer was off the wall in the bathroom, and furniture showing some wear. However, the staff makes up for this. They were courteous, pleasant and accommodating. Each and every one had a smile and greeting and if anything was needed, they were quick to take care of it. Closeness to the airport, a fair park and fly package, and good parking at no charge are also a plus.

I staid here for business for two nights, this hotel has seen better days. Just for a reference, I am comparing this hotel the Westin Tampa Bay, which is comparable in cost and type of hotel. As a platinum marriott holder, I have stayed in a lot of hotels and this one reminds me of a lot of the older marriotts. Everything is just outdated and looks plain worn out. I imagine 15 - 20 years ago this place was spectacular.

With all of this said, the service here is spectacular and all the employees make this hotel stayable. If it wasn't for the exceptional service, I would never stay at this hotel again.
