“Convenient and Quiet Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2010

My wife and I were takinga cruise out of Port Canaveral, but Orlando flights were almost double what flying into Tampa cost. So, we decided we would fly to Tampa, rent a car and drive across the state for our cruise. Our plans required us to stay one night after our cruise finished, but our flight was at 6:00 AM. So we wanted something close to the airport. The location of the Tampa Marriott could not have been any more convenient. It was located inside the airport terminal.

We arrived late afternoon, returned our rental car and took an elevator up to the correct level. We had to walk through the terminal (but not past security) to find the check in. Signage could have been a little better, but eventually we found the correct wing. Check in was smooth and easy. The service staff was friendly, efficient, and welcoming to us. They provided us the necessary information and instructions to our room. We carried our luggage to the elevator and found our room. While we could see flights taking off and landing around us, the noise from plans was minimal. Clearly sound proofing is heavy in this facility.

Our room was spacious and clean upon entrance. We had to turn the air down to cool off our room (yes - it was warm in mid March!) while we made some phone calls (cell service with AT&T was mostly acceptable - a few dead spots in our room). We then went downstairs to walk around a bit before dinner. We found an outdoor patio for smokers and lounging (as well as the pool) which was NOT sound proofed! We were outside with the planes coming and going.

We went back to the terminal and ate at Carabba's. It is a chain Italian restaurant, but we'd won a little money at the Hard Rock Casino on the way in, so we decided to have a meal on the casino!

We were pretty well dined out since we'd been on the cruise and shared a plate and ate light. Service there was a bit troublesome, but it was a busy airport terminal, so we brought our patience as we nearly fell asleep - quite tired!
We did wake up with the nourishment and returned to our room. We crashed into our comfortable bed and ordered a movie from the TV. It was not high definition, but we caught a movie our busy schedules normally would not allow and then drifted off to sleep - with our 4:30 wake up call awaiting.

We woke up, took quick showers and pulled out of the room a little before 5:00 and found our way to the gate at 5:15 (the adventure that followed is WAY more exciting of a story!) and the goal of an easy hotel for the flight was achieved with great success.

We paid a little more than I would like ($175 for the night), but the old saying of location, location, location surely applies here. The hotel is a nice place to stay. It is very quiet, and quite comfortable. And given another similar scenario, we'd be pleased to stay here.

Had an early morning flight out so stayed here.

It's a good hotel. Not terribly "fancy", but everything we expect from the Marriott. Staff was especially friendly (we needed another washcloth and forgot a toothbrush, so we had several interactions). Room was very quiet notwithstanding being at the end of a runway. Valet parking can be surprisingly cheap when bundled with a room rate.

Of course it's not cheap... it's a hotel at the airport. But it is good quality and great service. Added bonus: you can get the airport's free WIFI inside the hotel, so you don't have to buy it.

Stayed here for two nights - can't beat location. Easy walk to terminal which has several restaurants and shops before the security gate. It was fun to watch the planes out the window. This hotel is slightly dated - old tube TV, old furnishings, and bathroom is very small. Bed started to come apart in the night and there seemed to be an old, slivery piece of plywood under the mattress. Husband's side of the bed was definitely less firm than mine, leading us to believe it might be two twins stuck together rather than a king. Found quite a few faded brown stains on the comforter, but the room was clean otherwise. I would stay here again if I needed to be close to the conveniences of the airport, and especially if they renovated.

This hotel is extremely convenient for those flying in or out of Tampa. I stayed overnight to catch an early morning flight. Other reviewers are correct that airport noise is not a problem, and I am noise sensitive. Staff were very helpful. My only complaints were: (1) The place could use some remodeling - the TV for example, was sort of antique and, more importantly (2) climate control seems inadequate - I stayed on a wet evening, and my room was incredibly damp.

We stayed over one night in a double room. If you are flying out this is the best hotel as other reviewers have said. Can't be any more convenient. Twenty four hour Starbucks in the airport terminal ....just steps away from the hotel lobby. Check in was a breeze with reservation requests appropriately handled. The room was smallish by Marriott standards with a very small bathroom. Clean with furnishings up to standards expected from a Marriott. No flat panel TV yet in our 6th floor concierge level room. Staff was excellent. Mainly a hotel for flight layovers & business travellers.

We stayed at the Marriott due to an early flight out the next morning. As always, the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean and it is so convenient to wake up and and just walk out to the airport terminal. We always stay here when we have early flights to catch.

I stayed at the Tampa Airport Marriott for one night and found it to be another very good Marriott property. The hotel is located inside the airport terminal and is very easy to find. The room was very clean with a view of the airfield. You do not hear any noise from arriving/departing planes. The conceirge lounge was clean and well equipped.

This is the best hotel for anyone needing to stay at an airport location in Tampa. The staff was friendly, as usual, and the property exhibited everything I have come to expect from a Marriott property. Highly recommend this property.
