“Another excellent stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

I have reviewed the Sailport in the past and given it good reports. This is no different. The location is excellent. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The suites are clean and spacious. We stayed for 2 nights before travelling south and 2 nights on our return to the airport. As long as the suites are always like this we wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else in Tampa. Well done.

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to a return visit. When you do return we should be halfway through our complete room renovation and our new waterfront bar and grill should be completed by end of January 2013. We look forward to your comments when you return and thank you for your continued support

Soooo....we stayed at Sailport while attending a beautiful wedding in Tampa, We arrive around midnight, I waited in the car with the 2 sleeping children while my husband went to check us in. Once we unloaded our luggage onto the cart and took to the room, we found a 1 bedroom room with a pull out bed (partially broken) in the very used couch with holes each side, Being so late, I immediately went to set up the pull out bed for the kids that are 1/2 asleep then noticed there were no sheets, or anything for their bed. We called housekeeping to get bedding, after atleast 45 minutes ...... finally they can go to sleep. Once we woke in the morning, went to get showers, while the water was on there was sometype of pump or something that made a horrible knocking sound. We never saw room service except for when we had to request additional towles. We did use their courtesy shuttle to do some shopping at the mall, after 2 calls for a pick up, we waited for an hour on the side of the mall designated for pickup, in the middle of mall construction, along with 2 kids, then on the way back to the hotel, we stopped to get another family from the airport, during the entire ride the driver was making comments at other cars on the road and breezed through many stopsigns. I can live with all that only due to the fact we were not there all that much. But what is really disturbing me is the fact that once we checked in they ran a hold on our card then once we checked out they ran it for the correct amount, that hold will take a week to credited back to our account in the amount of $360.00. I called the hotel and was told all hotels do this (no, they do not). I aslo contacted my bank and they do not see any reason it would take that long to come off of our account.

Than you for your feedback regarding your stay with us at Sailport. I do appologize that we did not exceed your every expectation regarding your stay. Your feedback regarding your tranportation experience allowed to to coach and counsel the associate and I assure you that has been resolved. Our beautiful property is in the middle of a complete renovation and appologize if it affected your stay. Please call me personally so i can invite you back as my guest. As far as the credit card hold at check in, all reputable hotels will expect a method of payment to secure your stay. Even if you pay with a different form of payment at check out the bank does take a few days to release that money. We have no control over the bank releasing the hold on your funds even though we did call the bank to try and have the money released. Please call me should you have any other questions. Thank you

The room or condo was recently done over ----------------bed was so comfortable - I tried to take the Mattress Pad off to see what make it was - but the mattress was complete covered and I couldn't remove it. View was spectaular - couch was a little uncomfortable - however, I put my pillow from the bedroom behind my back and it was much better.

I was concerned that there were lots of kids - but it wasn't noisy at all. In fact, it was quite.

I would highly recommend a stay at this site.

Although the grounds are nice the rooms need a total makeover. Sofa bed had stains and rip that was held together with duct tape. Rip in carpet repaired with duct tape. Blankets had rips in them. My children slept on the floor because the sofa bed was disgusting. Would not recommend to anyone until rooms get a complete makeover.

My room was great the bed was comfortable and the view breath taking. I met many friendly people at the pool and they had a man cooking ribs for sale they were tender and tasty. The only bad part was that they had remodeling going on which I thought would be a problem but wasn't. They worked from 9am to 5pm which most of that time I was out at the beach watching fish and dolphins jumping in the bay. This is not a fancy 5 star hotel but it is a great place to stay and feel at home.

First thing when we pull into the parking lot is that half of it is blocked off. We ask the security guard where we need to go and he explains in broken English mumble that we need to back up and park on the side of the building and go up to the second floor to check in. He then explains that when we come back we will need to park on the right side of the parking lot under the building because they are going to be sealing the other side of the lot. When we made our way into the elevator there was a sign that stated on 10.29.2012 the lot was going to be sealed on the "shaded side of the map." Then on 10.30.2012 we would have to move our cars in the morning to the other side of the lot so that they could finish sealing the lot. There was NO MAP, NO explanation except to look at the map that didn't exist, NO directions given or explained to us in a clear and understandable manner. We'll see what happens tomorrow....

When we enter the office with the same mapless "Look at the map" sign, the lone desk clerk is assiting a group of people who are checking out from the 24 hour store in the back of the office whilst a random woman dressed like a prostitute and drinking wine in the office keeps trying to make chit chat with the clerk. When they finally finish we go through the check in process and he explains that when we get our bags to just follow the walkway along the office. Little did we know that my handicapped husband and I would have to follow this constantly zig zagging walkway all the way to the end of the building. There is only one elevator in the entire building and the stairs we could have used were on the side of the parking lot blocked off.

When we do get everything into our room the first thing we notice is that half the lights won't turn on. We couldn't find our way into the incredibly cramped bedroom to even get to the lamp to see if we could turn it on. After we used our cell phones to light the way around the bed and bureau to the lamp, we spent another 5 mins trying to see if there was another light in the room that belonged to the switch on the wall. It turns out someone had replugged the lamp into a different outlet and the outlet we needed to be able to use the switch was behind the bureau. The light for the kitchen was all the way on the inside wall and there was no light switch for the living room to even help find your way into the kitchen.

We made our way out to the living room which had a small table for two people, a TV that was extremely off in color, and a couch that had certainly seen it's better days. My husband and I could barely get out of the couch and it was extremely uncomfortable to sit there. I preferred to sit in one of the kitchen table chairs. It took hours to fall asleep in the very creaky bed. It may have actually been softer on the tile floor.

Upon being rudely awakened by the paving and sealing crew before 8:00 AM the next morning, (We paid for a vacation, we should be able to sleep!) we can finally see in a bright light just how dirty the unit is. We dared to go barefoot the first night here and this morning we sincereley regretted it. There is accumulated dirt in all the usual places, the microwave looks like it hasn't been cleaned in half a year or more, everything in the room had horrible signs of wear. When we left our room, we find that not only is the parking lot sealed off, but that the long zig zagging walkway we needed to use to get to the elevator/stairs/Main Office was also under construction. We had to beg just to be able to leave the building.

Not only was all of this happening but the room had cracks, chips, and dents all over. There was a daddy long legs and his quite established web under the valence for the slider. The railing on the stairway we used to go down was falling away from the building. The lamp in the living room only had one working bulb. There was no dish soap in the kitchen. Multiple switches went to nothing, and we couldn't even watch TV because either both the TVs were bad or the cable was screwed up. We can't get comfortable anywhere, or enjoy anything. The outside of this building may look good, but the units are akin to those in the slums.

It was a really pleasant stay, we had the best 2 bedroom suit in the hotel :D
Although we had some problems with the front desk at the beginning, it couldn't change an opinion about a hotel.
Great!
Unfortunately we stayed there only one thing, would love to come back to Tampa for a few days more!
