Relatiely close to the airport. Not much else I can say. Rooms are large and clean. Only one restaurant which is at the high end of service, cousine and cost. Oh! forget about the breakfast. You do not have to use the valet parking as the hotel carpark (free) is next door.

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa after reading some of the reviews. I could not believe when I walked in the room what the reality was. First the humidity and sweat smell is impossible in the rooms (we had two rooms). Then the bedding is dated. With a stench. The very small old fashion TV was not a pleasure to watch. They charge you for internet. The people at the front desk have no idea if the rooms are king or double. We did not get what we wanted but were too tired to exchange. These are one of the worst rooms that I have ever stayed in.

While the main building itself was certainly fine (could probably use a bit of an upgrade to meet Hyatt's lofty standards), the service was quite good. I stayed in a Casita which had an entirely different vibe than the main hotel, and since I was basically "disappearing" for three days (high stress job), I didn't want the busy nature of the hotel. Being really close to the airport was a plus but you will need a car, or plenty of cabfare, if you want to leave the hotel(Beware of the roads- they seem to change weekly and traffic cops love this stretch- go slowly and look for signage).

The Casitas are a pleasant 10-minute walk from the main hotel (through mangrove) in which you can find a good gym and some other amenities, but the area by the Casitas is better for relaxation (nicer pool, a little beach, Oystercatchers, outdoor "bar") . Airplane noise was only occasionally noticeable. My casita was a bit rundown, but the bed was really good, and the extra space and privacy was nice. (although charging for internet is ridiculous in 2009). Best of all, the service was really efficient and generally pleasant (front desk, cleaning, pool area, etc.). Really enjoyed the brief respite.

A nice hotel. Took shuttle from airport to hotel. No delay and quick service. Online I requested two beds, when I checked into room, it was a king bed. Went downstairs to change. Done without hesitation and comment (we booked through priceline). Room was beautiful. Had two large picture windows overlooking the bay. AC worked really well. Beds were comfortable. Nice pier in back of hotel to walk and seen jumping fish, crabs, and pink/white flamingos. Only stayed one night, but would have liked to have stayed longer.

We stayed on the Hyatt at the end of a Florida and Bahamas vacation. We were flying out of Tampa the next day and wanted to be near the airport. We checked in late in the evening (around 11pm). We had reserved a room with a king bed as my husband is very tall. Upon check-in we were told they did not have any king rooms. I found that hard to believe. The clerk then said she would put us in a casita with a king bed. We drove down to where the casitas are located, took the luggage to the room only to find 2 double beds. I called the front desk and they promptly sent someone down with a key to a different room with a king bed. The rooms were nice, not super plush, but very comfortable. The bed and bedding were wonderful. We went for a swim the next day in the pool by the casitas. It was very nice and very clean. We had the breakfast buffet, a bit pricey, but very good and very good service. We fly into Tampa a couple of times a year and would stay here again.
