Just returned from 4 nights staying in a lovely Casita at the Grand Hyatt, Tampa. The two story villa overlooked a canal and mangroves with the bay in the distance (master bedroom was on the second floor with an even better view). Furnishings very nice, beds very comfortable. Only drawback is noise from airport (Not enough to keep us awake). Service was excellent. Short walk to the main hotel via a boardwalk through peaceful nature area. The club lounge (included) was okay - not as generous as a Ritz - but pleasant with a good selection of cold items for breakfast. (Afternoon snack is just cookies and beverage - no sandwiches). Workout room is small - but airy with new treadmills and two ellipticals. Sunday too crowded to use but other days practically empty. Casitas have their own pool - beautiful at water's edge - and quiet - usually just us. I give it 4 stars due to noise from airport; lack of an actual snack at lunchtime in club lounge; and small workout room. But, we consider it best hotel to stay at in Tampa and will stay again.

“Staying there again this weekend, so it must be good!”

This hotel was great - the staff were friendly and helpful and the rooms pretty spacious.
We ate the brunch on the Sunday morning and though true it is a bit pricey the food was amazing and it also included champagne.
Armanis restaurant does have a scrict dress code and the brunch at Oystercatchers despite not having a dress code did slightly as my boyfriend had to put a sleveed T-shirt on instead of a vest shirt.
The pool's are nice although they could be slightly bigger and we did have to ask them to turn the temperature up in the jacuzzi, but all in all this hotel had most of the aminities you could want and in my opinion is definitely a good choice.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa Bay from 9/23/05 to 9/26/05. Our experience was mixed. This hotel is rated as a four star property by Michelin and other travel guides, and if you are a business traveler that is probably a true assessment.
This is not a hotel that caters to tourists - the staff frowns when they see you wearing informal attire in their lobby ( like shorts) or anywhere else for that matter. The restaurants on site are very pricey and when you ask for suggestions for dinner locations the staff wholeheartedly recommends "Oystercatchers," which is located by the pool and apparently in need of business.
The concierge was available on Friday afternoon but was not on site thereafter, requiring us to ask the front desk staff for help in finding restaurants and driving directions. The responses we received regarding same varied from " I don't live in this area" to " Oystercatchers has a great Sunday brunch for 32.00"
Tourists would do better somewhere else.

“Tampa's Best Kept Secret”

This hotel is absolutely fabulous. We stayed in a room that overlooks the water. It is spectacular both during the day and night. The hotel staff are absolutely wonderful and the food is delicious. Sunday brunch was the best that I've experienced... and I travel a lot! I will only stay in this hotel whenever I travel to Tampa. It's definitely worth the price!
