just got home from our tampa trip and must say, i loved this hotel!! the service here was spectacular. especially ALL doorman, who made all guests feel more than welcome. every employee caters to your every whim, and i must agree with some of the past reviews that say they make you feel like royalty. the pictures on the website are a true representation of what you will see in person.

true, the pool was a little small. but every time i went, there weren't that many people and definitely think the pool size is sufficient enough. also note that there is another pool by the casitas. this pool has a great view of tampa bay and has more of a resort feel to it. i would recommend you check this pool out first prior to settling down at the main one. unless you are staying at the main tower and prefer something more convenient, the casita pool is much nicer.

one more thing to note is the casita rooms. i did like the layout and the location of the casita rooms. however, i did NOT like the bugs that would sneak into your room every time you opened the door. i was told that since i was there right after hurricane dennis passed, it was the rain that could be credited for attracting the bugs to the rooms. we even had food out on the desk for a while, and we found little clear critters all over it. we were completely grossed out and immediately called the front desk. i thought there would be no chance that we could move since it was 1am! however, gina (as wonderful as she is) was very accomodating and had us moved to the main tower despite the inconvenient time. now, im sure you probably will have a better time in the casitas than we did. just note you are very close to nature and take that into consideration when upgrading to a casita.

i did dine at oystercatchers and thought it was good. our room in the main tower had a great view of the bay. overall, i had a great stay due to the staff. the facilities itself were very nice and i would not hesitate to stay here again! hope your experience is just as good as mine was!

I took my G/F away for weekend and I can't say enough about the Grand Hyatt. I called for shuttle at the airport and probably waited under 4 min for it to arrive. Was given a corner room on 11th floor. The view was as beautiful as the room was. I would say all but one of the employees greated us with a "hello" when we passed by. The hotel, grounds, and pools were incredible. The Hyatt is located on RTE 60 which was perfect location to go to Clearwater Beach one day and Busch Gardens another with a rental. I am looking forward to my next visit. Rooms may seem a little pricey, but I am glad I spent the extra cash!

“Not the Best but Much Better than Average”

I checked in for a conference only to find my room's view was that of construction on the top of the parking garage complete with pieces of rubble. Not too appetizing for a resort hotel in Florida. After complaint (and a bit of attitude) I was whisked to another room. A better view (still saw construction to the side) but the room was small for a 4 star hotel.

Things got better, though. I must say the rest of the staff was first rate, friendly and called me by name. The restaurants featured excellent food (pricey) and the grounds were spectacular. Make sure you watch the sunset from the dock near the pool at the cantina. Priceless view of Tampa Bay.

The other pool was closed but we managed. The hotel has a very business feel to it which is fine for travelers and convention goers. Suggest you rent a car as you really cannot walk anywhere for food, etc.

Again, hats off to the staff as they truly make this hotel "four star." I would stay here again on business.

“Perfection!”

This place is a dream! It is the ultimate place for business travelers. It is close to freeways and airport, but still has a 'resort' feel as it is on the bay. There is a nice nature area surrounding the hotel so you don't feel like you are at an 'airport' hotel. The customer service was fabulous and everyone seems to walk around with smiles. There are two pools, one overlooking the bay. There are three restaurants, all of which were great. I would come back here in a second. This is an excellent place for meetings/conferences.

We were very pleased with the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. The hotel personnel was very friendly and provided excellent service. Our room was immaculate and had a beautiful bay view. Although the pool area was very clean and nicely landscaped, we felt that it was too small in relation to the size of the hotel (especially since it is situated on a large piece of land – 35 acres). Nevertheless, we will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone staying in Tampa Bay.
