Had a great weekend stay at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay. Hotel is conveniently located less than 10 minutes from TPA airport. If you don't have a car, they do offer a airport shuttle. The location is also less than 30 minutes to either the beaches in Clearwater or St. Petersburg, downtown Tampa as well as Bush Gardens and only ten minutes from Raymond James stadium (we were in town for a Bucs game).
The hotel has recently been renovated and the rooms feature new furniture, carpeting and flooring and very comfortable beds.I'm not sure if the guest room bathrooms originally included a bathtub/shower combination but I'm always happy to see when a hotel remodels their rooms and removes the tub and replaces it with a large, beautifully tiled shower only. The rooms and common areas were all in great condition and well maintained. I have my sincere doubts about a recent post of this hotel complaining about bed bugs. The cleanliness of everything in this hotel from the guest room, bathroom, public spaces and grounds was immaculate.
The hotel has several unique features. One of which is a boardwalk that takes you through a wetlands preserve and out to a gazebo or to the other end of the property where the casitas rooms are located as well as Oystercatchers restaurant (excellent dinner). There's also a second pool, pool bar, hammocks and a dock located at this end of the property. Make sure you go up to the top floor of the hotel and Armani's restaurant. I can't attest to the food since we didn't eat there (but I hear it's very good), but go up for a drink on the outside deck with great views of Tampa Bay, the city and the airport. There is ample comfortable seating and they even have a fire pit.
The hotel has a pretty standard gym with all of the usual equipment as well as a nicely appointed locker room with a sauna. The hotel also has bikes available and you can now ride the entire length of the Courtney Campbell Causeway with the opening of the new bike/pedestrian bridge.
The hotel is the perfect combination of both a resort and business hotel so it's great for any type of stay. I've stayed at many of the major hotels in and around the Tampa area and I can't believe it took me this long to have my first stay at the Hyatt. It certainly won't be my last. .
